Pokémon Quest: Tips and tricks

Are you looking for ways to up your Pokémon Quest? Don't worry about a thing. We have you covered. Here are some tips and tricks to help you become a Pokémon Quest master!

Power Stones

As you progress through the game you will collect various Power Stones. Depending on the type of stone, they can increase your hit points or your attack. There are also stones which can alter the powers which your Pokémon use in battle.

Make sure that you are consistently swapping out lower powered Power Stones for the new higher power stones you receive. This will ensure that you are always at the top of your possible power for your team.

Contrary to popular belief on the subject, bingo isn't just for grandmothers. Bingo is also for Pokémon. When you are slotting Power Stones into your Pokémon always try to slot three in a line whenever possible. If you slot three Power Stones in a row you will get a Bingo Bonus. Each Pokémon has a different bonus. In order to see the bonus, tap on the magnifying glass in the upper right corner. This will show you exactly what benefits you are receiving.

Cooking

As you probably know by now, cooking is a great way to attract new Pokémon. Simply go to your Base Camp, tap on the cooking pot, and start throwing in ingredients. Once you have played for a little while you will get access to a new pot. You can switch pots by tapping the cycle symbol on the lower left of the pot. This new pot takes more ingredients but you will attract higher-level Pokémon.

Another thing to keep in mind as you are trying out new recipes is that the color of your ingredients matter. For the most part, the color of your dish affects what kind of Pokémon come looking for a snack. So if you are trying to find a specific Pokémon and you know that it's red, try adding only red ingredients to your pot.

Shop for the ingredients you need

If you are looking for some specific ingredients to make a special recipe in order to attract a certain special Pokemon, there is a way to do that. At first, it may seem as if ingredient drops are totally random and to a certain extent that's true. However, there is a way to get a little bit of an idea of what drops are possible. When you are are choosing an expedition to go on, just to the right of the name, you will see a color wheel. This color wheel shows you what odds you have for getting certain drops. So if you are looking for yellow ingredients, keep an eye out for a wheel with a lot of yellow in it. This little tip can help increase your chances of getting the ingredients you need.

Take advantage of type advantage

When heading off into an expedition, team composition is key. While it's important to have some synergy between the Pokemon in your team, it's also important to bring the right type of Pokemon. When choosing your next expedition, pay close attention to what types of Pokemon get an advantage on this level. You can do this by looking at the color-coded type bar just below the name of the expedition. If that little bar says Psychic, it means that all of the psychic type Pokemon you bring along will get a combat advantage on that particular expedition.

Run away to fight another day

When I first started playing Pokemon Quest I was not utilizing the scatter button to its full potential, if at all. In the lower right of your screen, you will see a little orange button with arrows on it. This is your scatter button. Tapping this button will send your Pokemon running in every direction. Once you have a feel for the Pokemon you are battling against, this can be an extremely effective way of avoiding damage. You see someone winding up for a big attack? Tap that little button and you buddies will scatter and live to fight another day.

Decorations

Whether you get them by completing expeditions or by buying them in the Poké Mart, decorating your Base Camp can have great effects on just about every aspect of your game. From simple XP boosts to increased ingredient drops, a decoration can be an effective method of getting where you want to be faster.

Back to the Base Camp

One happy little accident that I stumbled upon was an amazingly simple method of collecting new Pokémon. Any time you are out on an expedition and you encounter a new type of Pokémon in battle you should head back to your base camp. On occasion, you will see that Pokémon just hanging out in your Base Camp with a little exclamation mark above their head. Simply tap on that visiting Pokémon and they will become yours. It doesn't happen every time you encounter a new type of Pokémon but it happens often enough that it's worth heading back to camp just to check.

There's a lot to learn in Pokémon Quest, so we will be sure to update this article as we discover great new tips and tricks to help you in your own adventures. Good luck and happy questing!
