New numbers show that the iPhone saw significant growth in terms of smartphone shipments in Europe during the second quarter of the year. It wasn't enough to take top spot though — that went to Xiaomi after a stellar performance.
Apple's component suppliers are working to make some of the key iPhone parts slimmer from 2023, allowing for larger batteries to be included without also having to make the devices themselves any thicker.
Apple chipmaker TSMC has been given the green light to build a new factory that will be dedicated to the production of 2nm chips. It's expected that the factory will be ready for testing in 2023, with the 2024 iPhone potentially benefitting from the new chips.
