Start saving with the Samsung T5 500GB portable SSD at its best price to date
The Samsung T5 500GB portable solid state drive (opens in new tab) is down to just $83.98 at Amazon, which is the lowest it's ever gone. While it hasn't been sold for its list price of $130 for some time, it still averages around $100. The sale price only applies to the blue model at present, with other colors at $97.99.
When it comes to portable SSDs, this is one of the best you can buy, especially at this price. Today's deal drops it down to an all-new low so it's worth snagging one now.
$99.14 $15 off
In a perfect world, portable solid state drives would be just as inexpensive as portable hard drives (opens in new tab). After all, the main feature of SSDs is they have no moving parts, which really makes them perfect for carrying data on the move. Hard drives are much more prone to failure when getting knocked around in your backpack or trampled on the subway. Unfortunately, we're not there yet. Luckily this deal shaves some of that cost off the top and you get a really good product out of it.
The T5 features quick read and write speeds of up to 540 Mbps, along with optional password protection and AES 256-bit hardware encryption. It's so tiny it can fit in the palm of your hand too. Samsung includes two cables so you can connect it to either a USB-C or a standard USB port right out of the box.
It has gotten quite a few great critical reviews in a short amount of time, including an Editor's Choice and 4 stars from PC Mag, 4.5 stars from Tech Radar, and a review from Forbes that said it "offers a great sweet spot in terms of size, performance and price." Amazon users give it an impressive 4.7 stars based on over 1,600 reviews (opens in new tab). Samsung backs it up with a three-year warranty, as well.
