If you're looking for a good way to wind down the work week, you'll want to pick up Asphalt 8: Airborne on the App Store since it's ditched the $0.99 pricetag and gone free for this weekend only. There are a few freemium elements in the game, but if my glowing review is any indication, they sure don't get in the way of anything.
Gameloft's hotly anticipated arcade racer, Asphalt 8: Airborne, is now available to download from the App Store for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Our very own Simon Sage has already spent some time with the game, and put it through its paces:
Asphalt 8: Airborne is hitting the App Store on August 22, and let me tell you - it’ll be worth every single one of the 99 cents you pay for it, and probably worth a few in-app purchases too. We got our first taste of the game at E3, which, if nothing else, showcased the extreme upgrade in graphics. After playing it for a day or two, I’m happy to report that Asphalt 8 has officially replaced Real Racing 3 as my favorite driving game.
Gameloft has announced that - of course - they'll be bringing an adaption of Marvel and Disney's upcoming Thor sequel, Thor: The Dark World to iOS along with the movie this fall. The movie, a follow up to the Avengers as much as the original film, sees Thor facing off against the dark elf, Malekith the Accursed. Hammer-smashing action and adventure is almost certain to follow.
Order & Chaos Online is a pretty impressive MMORPG available in the App Store for iPhone and iPad, and if you're new to the game or just want to sharpen up a little, then this is for you. Courtesy of Paul Acevedo over at our sibling site Windows Phone Central, comes the complete beginners guide to the game.
It’s been quite a while since we talked about Tango, the voice, video, and text messaging app for iOS and other platforms. Since then, the Tango service has expanded to include photo sharing and even games. The first of those games launched this week: Candy Block Breaker from Gameloft and Jetpack Jinx from Bubble Gum Interactive. Both are free to play.
During E3, Gameloft announced the latest iteration of their long-standing racing series, Asphalt 8: Airborne. Asphalt 8 introduces a new aerial element where you're launching your car off ramps to do freakin' sweet spins and flips. It's basically mixing in Tony Hawk with your classic racing game.
Gameloft has released a teaser for the next installment in the Asphalt series, and it looks absolutely incredible. Asphalt 8: Airborne is due to land sometime this summer, but ahead of that we get to see some beautiful looking screenshots and this teaser trailer. The price has also been revealed, and it will cost us just $0.99.
Ahead of the start of the annual E3 show in Los Angeles, Gameloft has shown off the first teaser of the forthcoming Modern Combat 5. We don't see a lot, but what we do see is some pretty spectacular looking action taking place throughout the streets and canals of Venice, Italy.
If you're looking for some new games to play this weekend on your iOS device, Gameloft wants to help you out. Starting today for a limited time only -- this weekend to be precise -- premium titles N.O.V.A. 3 and Gangstar Rio can be had completely free of charge. That's a combined saving of just under $12 if you're counting.
