Best AirPods deals
There are two different second-gen AirPods models, one that comes with a standard charging case and one that offers a wireless charging case. The headphones themselves are identical in both configurations; the only variance is whether you can wirelessly charge them when the battery starts running low or if you need to find a Lightning cable to plug them in.
If you want the cheapest AirPods you can buy, the non-wireless version is the way to go, but you can often find the wireless charging ones for about $30 more if you want the added convenience.
AirPods w/ Charging Case | $40 off
This deal at a few retailers saves you $40 on Apple's entry-level AirPods. Unfortunately, you don't get the wireless charging case, but this is the most affordable way to get brand new AirPods right now.
AirPods w/ Wireless Charging Case | $39 off
This near-$40 discount makes it more affordable than ever to upgrade to the AirPods that you can wirelessly charge instead of worrying about plugging in. This low price won't last for long.
Best AirPods Pro deals
In late 2019, Apple introduced the AirPods Pro, which built upon the success of the original AirPods and a few features that people wanted to see. With the AirPods Pro, Apple introduced a new design that featured an on-device touch panel for controlling them, changed the tips of the headphones, and included noise cancellation for the first time to date.
With the new features comes a steeper price tag, but luckily you don't have to look very far to find a pretty good deal on them.
AirPods Pro | $69 off
Amazon is taking almost $70 off the regular price of AirPods Pro, and you can have them delivered quickly with Amazon Prime. This deal is also available at Walmart.
Refurbished AirPods Pro | $99 off
Back Market has refurbished Apple AirPods Pro with various cosmetic condition ratings from $150, though an excellent condition set will cost you just $175, which isn't far off their price brand new right now. Free U.S. shipping and a one-year warranty are included with the purchase.
Best AirPods Max deals
The AirPods Max is the first Apple-branded over-ear noise-canceling wireless headphones — and supplies were heavily constrained at launch. However, since the early adopters got theirs, prices have started to come down with some great AirPods Max deals.
AirPods Max | $100 off
Now supply has caught up with demand. There are some stellar AirPods Max deals around, like this $100 discount at Amazon offering an all-time low price. The discount is matched at Walmart.
AirPods Max | $150 off
We're starting to see the refurb offers for AirPods Max coming through now they have been on the market for a little while. So go for a set of renewed headphones at Amazon and save up to $150 versus their price brand new.
Best AirPods Alternatives
There's no denying that Apple AirPods are great, especially if you're all-in on Apple gear, and that they are tremendously popular. However, despite their popularity and integration with Apple tech, other options on the market may offer all that you need for less.
Beats Powerbeats | $70 off
The Powerbeats neckband-style earbuds are almost 50% off in black at Amazon right now. This is a match for the lowest we have ever seen them go.
Beats Studio Buds | $20 off
Apple's Beats Studio Buds only just hit the market, but they make for an affordable AirPods Pro competitor. They feature ANC and Transparency modes, USB-C charging, hands-free "Hey Siri" support, and more. They are $20 off at several retailers.
Beats Powerbeats Pro | $81 off
Built with sport in mind, the Powerbeats Pro has the same Apple smarts as AirPods but in a design that prioritizes comfort and stability with sweat and water resistance. These earbuds retail for $250, though they have been on sale for $200 for a while. You can save even more on select colors at Walmart, Amazon, and other retailers.
Beats Solo3 | $75 off
Beats' wireless Solo3 headphones have Apple's W1 chip and Class 1 Bluetooth connectivity, so it pairs as quickly as AirPods. They last for up to 40 hours on a single charge, and fast-charge turns 5 minutes into 3 hours of playback. They also fold up for travel.
Beats Solo Pro | $150 off
The Beats Solo Pro is an AirPods Max alternative with active noise-cancellation and up to 40 hours of battery life. They also have Apple's H1 chip for easy pairing, reliable connectivity, and hands-free access to Siri. This is half off the regular price of these headphones.
Anker Soundcore Liberty Air Pro 2 | $129 at Amazon
The Soundcore Liberty Air 2 Pro fit nicely into the increasingly competitive $100-$150 price tier of ANC wireless earbuds. With a fun, dynamic sound and better noise cancelation than most true wireless earbuds at this price, these wireless earbuds are a solid buy and cost less than AirPods Pro.
Anker Soundcore Life P3 | $12 off
The new Soundcore Life P3 focuses on a great call experience with six noise-canceling mics. They also have a bunch of advanced tech you want from your wireless earbuds like noise cancellation, a 35-hour battery life, USB-C charging, IPX5 water resistance, and more.
What are AirPods?
AirPods is the moniker that Apple's first-party true wireless earbuds offerings carry, with the branding now also extending to Apple's over-ear cans. Apple's wireless audio devices are all designed to be super easy to pair with Apple devices and provide superb audio quality on the go.
Apple's AirPods were initially announced back in September 2016, and they proved a hit in their first year on sale, with most retailers struggling to keep them in stock. The original AirPods featured Apple's brand-new (at the time) W1 chip, which allowed for one-tap pairing with your iPhone. This has since been upgraded to the H1 chip, which allows for "Hey Siri" commands and more in the second-gen AirPods, with the AirPods Pro adding active noise-cancellation into the mix. In 2020, Apple unveiled its first premium over-ear AirPods in the AirPods Max.

When it comes to AirPods pricing, we've seen discounts of varying amounts since the popular headphones were released. The lowest we've seen Apple's AirPods drop was $99 during Black Friday, though that deal didn't last very long. You can frequently find them priced at $110 to $150 from places like Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and more.
As for the AirPods Pro, they have sold for as little as $169, which is $80 less than usual. That being said, they usually only drop to about $200 with any regularity. AirPods Max has seen even fewer deals, though more are cropping up now they have been out for a while.
AirPods vs. AirPods Pro vs. AirPods Max: Which should you buy?
When it comes to picking the right model of AirPods, no answer is correct for everyone. A lot of it will come down to personal preference, but some key differences may sway you one way or another in the hunt for a suitable model. Starting with the regular AirPods, these are the most compact and affordable option. The latest-generation model has the new H1 chip inside for Hey Siri support, the ability to have your SMS read aloud to you, and more. It also aims to keep a more reliable connection than the previous one.
As for the AirPods Pro, these headphones are more expensive but come with features that we had never seen in AirPods before. For example, with the Pro model, you get noise cancelation and a brand new Transparency mode. Noise cancelation is something that people have wanted in AirPods since they first came out, and the Transparency feature was well-liked after people started using it.
If you want to spend less and get most of the features, the regular AirPods are a solid purchase, but if you're going to go all-out on them now, the AirPods Pro won't let you down.
AirPods Max is an altogether different beast. These super-premium over-ear headphones combine high-fidelity audio with Active Noise Cancellation. Each part of their custom-built drivers works to produce sound with ultra-low distortion across the audible range. From deep, rich bass to accurate mids and crisp, clean highs, you'll hear every note with a new sense of clarity.
At $549, they are also over double the price of the previous most expensive set of AirPods, so you know these are aimed squarely at audiophiles and Apple's biggest fans.
