The Pip-Boy included in the Fallout 4 Collector's Edition will fit most iPhones

Last week at E3 2015, Bethesda Softworks revealed plans to release a collector's edition of their upcoming post-apocalypse game Fallout 4, which will include a real Pip-Boy housing that allows you to slot your smartphone inside and wear it on your hand while using it in tandem with a second-screen app. Now the publisher has revealed that the Pip-Boy will come with foam inserts that will fit a number of smartphones, including most of Apple's iPhone models.

Officially, the Pip-Boy will work with the iPhone 4 and 4s, the iPhone 5 and 5s and the iPhone 6. Bethesda adds:

In addition, using the customizable foam insert you should be able to fit most other popular smartphone devices. As we wanted to stay faithful to the dimensions of the in-game model, any smartphones larger than the models listed will not fit inside the wearable device. For these larger devices, our Pip-Boy companion app will still be available.

Yes, that does mean that the Pip-Boy won't fit the large 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus. The Fallout 4 Pip-Boy collectors edition is now sold out for North American residents, so if you managed to buy one you are very lucky. Europeans will still have a shot of buying the collector's edition, with Bethesda stating, "We are still working out details on final inventory for European territories and expect to have information early next week."
