How to back up to iCloud before updating to iOS 8

If you're planning on updating to iOS 8 on your iPhone or iPad, it's always a good idea to make sure you've backed up first. While it's not common for things to go wrong, software glitches can and do happen, so always protect your data first. Luckily, backing up to iCloud is easy enough and can give you the peace of mind in knowing that if something does go wrong, all your data is protected.

How to manually back up to iCloud on iPhone and iPad

  1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap on iCloud.
  3. Tap on Storage & Backup.
  4. Turn On iCloud backup under the Backup section if it isn't already — if it is, skip to step 5.
  5. Tap on Back Up Now.
  6. Wait for your backup to complete before updating.

That's all there is to it! You can now upgrade to iOS 8 knowing your stuff is safe. Keep in mind that to back up to iCloud, you must have an iCloud login and be signed into it. If you don't and aren't sure how to make one, hit the link below about creating one and we'll help walk you through!
