Photo Booth on iPad 2 hands-on

Photo Booth on the iPad 2 is a fun application that applies silly effects to your camera when taking photos. It is similar to Photo Booth on the Mac and is entertaining for kids and adults alike.

Photo Booth is equipped with 8 different effects: Thermal Camera, Mirror, X-Ray, Kaleidoscope, Light Tunnel, Squeeze, Twirl, and Stretch. You can edit the effect before snapping the picture by pinching and dragging on the screen. As you take photos (from either front or rear camera) with Photo Booth, they are saved to your Camera Roll and you can see thumbnails of the images at the bottom of the screen. From here, you can easily email, copy, and delete multiple photos. Be careful though, deleting a photo from Photo Booth also deletes it from your Camera Roll.

The quality of the photos taken with the VGA front-facing camera are not by any means outstanding, but given the nature of these shots - fun, quirky, and silly - it isn't too big of a deal.

Check out some images taken with Photo Booth after the break!

Photo Booth on iPad 2 hands-on

Yes. I have a furnace. But it costs a lot of money to heat my house, so we generally keep it cold inside and layer up to save money. And I also just like beanies.

Same here Leanna. I have a 5000sqft home with propane heat. Cost $1200 about every 7 weeks or less if it is cold in the winter to heat it. Keep my house at 60 with a few heaters (unless I have company) and layer up. We are used to it. We only use 20% of the home for living anyway. I wear a knit hat or knit head band just like you. When I'm on facetime calls on my iphone I always get asked why I'm wearing a hat in the house. Actually I have gotten used to it. I dont notice it until I go to my friends who has a woodstove with a house temp of 78 or higher!

You forgot to show that you can manipulate the effects with touch. A very important part too.

(What's my detail, doctor?)
Your hat...
Your hat makes me want to cry, Leanna.
[Extra credit to whoever gets the reference. For those who don't, that's 'cry' in a good way.]

Why would one need this application for?
I don't get it. Apple tried to show off the processor with this app. I dont think the intent was to entertain ppl. Do ppl really like this crap? It's garbage!!!

I have to agree. This is an app for my 8 year old. Play with it once and that's that. Reminds me of the 100's of cheesy Photoshop filtrs over the years.
Now that being said....I am not a musician and play no instrument but for some dumb reason I downloaded GarageBand onto my Ipad 1 last night. OMG. What an amazing app!!! I was amazed. Tons of fun. Makes me wish I played an instrument. My son will love it too. I really want to play with it. I highly recommend it for a DL. Sorry for getting off topic.

And how is this a useful app? Seems like the kind of thing you will never use after day 2.
