Apple releases statement on white iPhone 4 delay

Apple releases statement on white iPhone 4 delay

On the cusp of iPhone 4's official rollout tomorrow, Apple has issued a statement about why the white model, introduced alongside the black by Steve Jobs at WWDC 2010, hasn't yet been made available to order:

White models of Apple’s new iPhone 4 have proven more challenging to manufacture than expected, and as a result they will not be available until the second half of July. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected.

So, anyone going to wait for white?

Apple iPhone 4 back glass can be scratched?

Apple iPhone 4 back glass can be scratched?

iFixit claimed the front display on Apple's new iPhone 4 was protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass, but Engadget's review unit is already showing scratches on the back side. Was it an earlier test unit not up to release unit standards? Is the Gorilla Glass only on the front and not the back? Is Gorilla Glass not as scratch resistant as we thought? Is it not really Gorilla Glass at all?

Engadget did get a little rough with their iPhone 4 review unit, but no doubt so will users. And the front seems to be holding up fine.

iPhone 4 starts arriving at the door! Share your photos, videos, and love! [Sticky]

Attention TiPb nation, your iPhone 4 have begun arriving! Those of you who pre-orderd for delivery have scored a coup over your reserving-to-wait-in-line-at-Apple brethren. Fair enough. Congrats. Now let's get on with it:

Chris has started a thread in the iPhone Forums to share his photos and first impressions. If you've just gotten your iPhone 4, jump in there and join him. We'll take the best pics and impressions and post them right here on the front page. (Try to be in the picture with your iPhone -- we want to see you to!)

So what are you waiting for? Jump in the Forums and show it off!

Potential fix for lost 3G data connections following iOS 4 update?

Potential fix for lost 3G data connections following iOS 4 update?

Losing your AT&T data connection following the iOS 4 update? We got a tip from a TiPb reader who spent some time on the phone with Apple support. If you're having the same problem (typically it's people with unlimited data, like we mentioned yesterday), try using his steps below to get it back. He said he did it with 2 friends that lost data as well and it seems to work -- at least as a temp fix.

More from iPhone 4 teardown - is Apple A4 1GHz?

More from iPhone 4 teardown - is Apple A4 1GHz?

We previously mentioned iFixit was tearing down the iPhone 4, and had confirmed 512MB of RAM and said the front and back displays were Corning Gorilla Glass. Well they're done with the teardown now and here are some more details.

The only area where we're still unclear is the Apple A4 system-on-chip. iFixit says 1GHz below but Engagdet thought that, while faster than iPhone 3GS, it was slower than the confirmed 1GHz iPad, and MacRumors rough benchmarks bear that out. So what's the deal on the chip? Is it doing more or did Apple clock it down to get that amazing battery life and lower the thermal impact?

More from iFixit after the break.

How are you organizing your iOS 4 Folders?

37

How are you organizing your iOS 4 Folders?

One of the big new features of iOS 4 is the ability to organize your apps into folders. Each folder can contain no more than 12 apps and can be placed anywhere you like, including the dock. Folders are completely customizable and the process is simple.

Already a folders-making machine? We want to see them! Head on over to our iPhone Forum and add your screen shot to the showcase. Make sure you tell us how you're organizing them. By category, by workflow? Do you have Folders in your dock? Are you using them to help get things done or just better keep track of your fun? Show us!

Not sure how to set up Folders yet? Read on after the break!
