iPhone-dev Team Getting Closer to 3G Unlock?

iPhone-dev Team Getting Closer to 3G Unlock?

Let me first start off by quoting the iPhone-dev Team:

Disclaimer!! This is a purely technical post with no pragmatic use!

Sadly you will not read that they have unlocked the iPhone 3G. They have posted a few updates over the past few months giving us some idea of what is going on with the 3G unlock. It seems they have hit a snag while trying to use a specific exploit. They were able to get the baseband to stop responding to the OS. They then tried to restore the device multiple times to no avail.

iPhone App Avalanche 12: SpaceTime Converter, iSign, Elements: Flash Cards and aDriverTest!

It's time for App Avalanche 12, and this week we're taking a look at the Education category in the App Store and at what's Good, Better, Best, and, of course, the CrApp. There's an abundance of apps to choose from, and the Education category has pages and pages of good stuff (and some that isn't so good). Here at TiPb, we're all about culling through the mediocrity to see if we can deliver a few precious gems (and one piece of coal, of course!). Let's get started after the break!

TellMe Voice Recognition App Coming to iPhone

TellMe Voice Recognition App Coming to iPhone

Although Microsoft themselves haven't deigned to design applications for the iPhone directly (yet!), that doesn't mean their various subsidiaries and hangers-on aren't eyeing the platform. We already told you about the first zany Microsoft-tech to hit the iPhone, the Olympic-version of the Zumobi tiled-content application. Now Gizmodo brings word of another Microsoft-related company coming to the iPhone: TellMe.

Setback of the iSuperClones: HTC Touch HD NOT Coming to the US?

WMExperts just relayed the following: looks like HTC won't be releasing the Touch HD in the US. What kind of illogical, inexplicable, incomprehensible BS is this?

sad news, US. we looked into it- by the time we could bring Touch HD to the states, it would be old news. we do have other cool stuff coming

Shenanigans, we call! They have like 37 other Touch sub-brands landing on earth (and who knows what other planets!), and this was the one device we hoped would really push Apple -- in its biggest market -- to ramp up the screen size and media playback abilities of the iPhone for rev 3.

Revenge of the Analysts: iPhone #1 Smartphone? #2 Handset? 10 Million Already Sold?!

Rumors are flying today that Apple may have already hit the suddenly-not-so-outrageous-sounding 10 Million iPhones Sold goal set by Steve Jobs for 2008. Reader Reptile pointed us to Seeking Alpha's IMEI tracking coverage:

How To: Take a Screenshot With the iPhone

How To: Take a Screenshot With the iPhone

While this might be iPhone 101 to some, Apple pretty much snuck this feature into their 2.0 firmware, and while we're now at 2.1, not everyone may yet know that they can capture their iPhone screen contents with just the touch of a button -- well, two buttons actually.

To take a screenshot with your iPhone or iPod Touch, just press the Home and Sleep buttons at the same time. On 2.0, the screen will flash white, while with 2.1, you'll also get the camera shutter sound, and your screen will be captured.

To access your screenshots go to Photos and on the iPhone, look in Camera Roll, while on the iPod Touch, check out Saved Photos. (see, poetically, screenshots after the jump!)

D'oh! Blackberry Storm Gets Cut and Paste!

Sure, iPhone 2.2 is getting better and better, but after 2 years and the best graphical user interface team ever put on Jobs' vegan earth, we still don't have official cut, copy, and paste functionality. Blackberry Storm, however, which hasn't even hit the market yet? Looks like they'll get it Day One.

Our frenemies over a Crackberry.com pass along the deets (via BGR), while a commenter updates on the functionality:
