AT&T, Verizon stores to start selling iPad on October 28

AT&T and Verizon Wireless stores are going to start selling the iPad on October 28. Verizon will be selling the Wi-Fi only iPad, but bundling it with their Mi-Fi mobile hotspot service.

The cost for iPad Wi-Fi + Mi-Fi on Verizon will be $630, $730, and $830, plus a no-contract $20 for 1GB on the Mi-Fi EVDO data.

"This is the perfect pairing for holiday travels," said John Stratton, chief operating officer for Verizon Wireless. "iPad together with the nation's largest and most reliable 3G data network allows customers to easily connect on the go wherever they are."

Bar Refaeli for iPhone [Give away]

The official Bar Refaeli app for iPhone is here complete with photos, interviews, and videos. It's not Retina Display (yet?), and we had some trouble with the video (though that could just be launch day hiccups) but if you're a Bar Refaeli fan and want to take her everywhere you go, yes... there's an app for that.

Apple applies for iPhone anti-sexting patent

Apple has applied for yet another patent; this one is for filtering text messages. Why would one want to filter text messages, you ask? To prevent sexting of course!

Sexting -- SMS text messages containing sexual content -- restrictions could allows the user (or parent of the user) to block the exchange of text-based messages containing any type of content, or to have the offending content removed before the transmission is complete.

Tired of waiting for a white iPhone 4? Add some color with Incipio Feather Case [Sponsored]

Since Apple still hasn't shipped a white iPhone 4 -- much less a pink one -- I decided try out a few, fun Incipio Ultra Light Feather Cases instead. Because really, why should I have to wait for style? They come in black, turquoise, metallic black, metallic white, pink, metallic orange, forest green, yellow green, metallic gray, coral, metallic purple, and bright purple (phew!), and are thin and unobtrusive enough you'll barely notice the difference in your pocket or purse. They also come with a screen protector, so if you're worried about scratches, they've got you covered.

Apple holding "Back to the Mac" event October 20

Apple holding "Back to the Mac" event October 20

Looks like Apple will be holding an event in October again, this time called "Back to the Mac" and no doubt focusing on -- OS X 10.7 Lion?! -- new MacBooks, a new MacBook Air, and maybe iLife '11 and iWork '11?

Since iOS is such an integral part of Apple these days, it's hard to believe they'll skip iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad entirely, so we'll be keeping our eyes peeled for anything from new slideshow exports (yawn!) to a whole new app for making HTML 5 goodness for our mobile devices, or Back to my Mac for iOS?

I still want an iOS layer to replace Dashboard and FrontRow. How about that?

What do you expect?

Foxconn raising manufacturing costs for iPhone, iPad?

Is Foxconn about to increase what it charges Apple (and other companies) to produce products like the iPhone and iPad?

Oct 13 (Reuters) - Hon Hai (2317.TW), the world's largest electronic parts maker, will raise prices from October for some clients, including Apple (AAPL.O), according to a Citibank analyst, a Taiwan newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Citibank analyst Chang Kaiwei said Hon Hai would also raise prices for Nokia (NOK1V.HE), Microsoft (MSFT.O) and Sony Ericsson (ERICb.ST) (6758.T), helping to push up its fourth quarter profit, according to the Commercial Times newspaper.

VLC app update to bring video player to iPhone

VLC developers Applidium have announced that they have submitted an update to the existing iPad app that will make it universal and support the iPhone and iPod Touch. The update to VLC, the media player all our otherwise unsupported video files love, and that came to the iPad about a month ago, is now headed to the iPhone and iPod touch is currently being reviewed by Apple, and we should expect it in the AppStore any time soon.

There area few restrictions with this new version:

T-Mobile Germany losing iPhone exclusivity?

T-Mobile Germany losing iPhone exclusivity?

T-Mobile has been the exclusive carrier of the iPhone in Germany since the first iPhone in 2007, however there is new evidence to show that T-Mobile may lose its exclusivity to O2 and Vodafone in the coming weeks.

  • The O2 Germany website, has launched a ‘keep me informed’ page, that offers “the latest news and everything to know about the iPhone 4 on O2”

  • The Vodafone website has launched a similar page that allows you to sign up and select which iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS you want to be notified about.

Both carriers are yet to announce any official pricing or release date, however one source at iPhone-Ticker.de has said that Vodafone will have iPhone 4’s starting Wednesday 27th October, with prices starting at €729 and as high as €849, off contract.

Rumoured contract prices start at €169,90 for the handset and €45 a month for the low-tier contract, to as high as €119,95 a month, with the handset at €1 for the higher-tier contract.

This marks the end of T-Mobile’s exclusivity in Germany, and sees them join the likes of the UK and Canada in the list of multiple-carrier countries. Unless and until Verizon iPhone (or Sprint or T-Mobile) rumors prove true, the US remains exclusive to AT&T.

So, any T-Mobile Germany iPhone users tempted to switch?
