Photo Booth on iPad 2

Photo Booth on iPad 2

One of the new features of the iPad 2 is a Photo Booth app for use with its new built in cameras.

Things are about to get pretty twisted. Photo Booth takes snapshots of you and your friends in ways far from ordinary — from funny to artsy to really bizarre. Make a few faces, snap a few snaps, and see your wacky side.

The iPad 2 has two cameras, a front-facing VGA camera and a 720p HD rear-facing camera. According to Apple, Photo Booth uses the front-facing camera, but the screenshots seem to point to the ability of using the rear-facing camera as well.

Using Photo Booth is simple. Just hold up the iPad and snap away. When using the front-facing camera, Photo Booth will flash the screen white just prior to taking the photo to add light to your face, much like the Mac version of Photo Booth.

Once you're done twisting up your face, doubling your head, or making yourself look like an alien, a comic book character, or an X-ray, share your photos via email or assign them as contact photos. Everything in Photo Booth is saved in your photo library, so sharing to Facebook, Twitter, or other social platforms will also be a breeze.

Photo Booth will be a fun addition to iPad 2 for children and adults alike. Are you looking forward to playing around with Photo Booth on the iPad 2?

Follow along for a few more screenshots!

Apple posts iOS 4.3 GM seed for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch

Apple has posted the iOS 4.3 GM (gold master) build 8F190 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch on their developer portal. While Apple TV was included in the iOS 4.3 betas, no GM has been posted for it at this time.

Unless there is a show-stopper level bug found in the GM, this is likely the same build that will be released to the public on March 11 alongside the iPad 2 in the US.

TiPb Answers: Apple A5 chip -- what we know and what we guess

Just like the original iPad debuted with an Apple A4 chip, iPad 2 is coming with an Apple A5 chip. What does that mean? In typical fashion Apple has been short on details saying only that it's dual-core, 1GHz, 2x faster for computational tasks and 9x faster for graphics, all while preserving the 10 hour battery life that made the A4 famous. They don't think we need to worry about what CPU or GPU they're using and how much RAM is on board to let that power breathe. But here's the thing -- many of us want to know exactly that.

This is the chip that will also power the 2011 iPhone 5, iPod touch 5, and Apple TV. We want answers. We can handle answers! So... stick with us after the break for everything we know about the new Apple A5 chip... and what we can guess.

iPad 2 event roundup

Steve Jobs once again put sneaker to stage and introduced us to the all new Apple iPad 2 today... and that's not all. From iBooks to iTunes, iOS 4.3 AirPlay to Home Sharing, HDMI out to Smart Cover ups, iMovie to GarageBand Apple tried hard to tell us why 2011 would again be the year of the iPad. Did they succeed? Frankly we're too exhausted to even think about it -- so you tell us!

iPad 2 -- what we didn't get!

Sure Apple showed off a lot during the iPad 2 event but they didn't give us everything we wanted, now did they? While I can't tell for sure yet if I got my smaller bezel (I'll be measuring down to the millimeter!) there are some hardware and software features that are obviously missing in action.

We're going to go over them after the break!
