Do you still download or sync podcasts onto your iPhone or iPad?

The new Apple TV is famously streaming-only but with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad you can still choose between downloading certain types of media to your local device or streaming them straight from the internet.

This pertains mostly to audio and video podcasts either in the iTunes Store app or right inside Safari from a direct, iOS-friendly link, but it struck me when reviewing Apple TV (2010) just how little I actually download any more.

Has Apple dropped AirPrint support for 2nd-Gen iPod touch

Apple have silently changed the details of AirPrint support since the release of iOS 4.2 Beta 2 last week. Originally the AirPrint capability was listed by Apple as supporting the iPod touch 2nd Generation when it was announced back on the 15th September:

AirPrint will work with iPad, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch (second generation and later).

After the release of the latest iOS Beta the press release has now been changed to read:

Adidas pulls out of $10 million iAd deal?

According to a couple of mobile industry executives, Adidas has pulled out of their $10 million deal with Apple to provide ads from the shoemaker under Apple's iAd mobile advertising platform. This comes after Chanel, one of the companies included as a partner in the initial iAd launch, cancelled their own campaign. From Business Insider:

Apple TV (2010) review

Apple TV (2010) is a bold-ish relaunch of Apple's Macworld 2007 co-headliner and since-then hobby, the Apple TV. Mac OS X has been ditched in favor of iOS, Intel in favor of Apple A4 (ARM), matt black in favor of aluminum, syncing in favor of streaming, buying in favor of renting, and Netflix has joined what was once an almost exclusively Apple, entirely iTunes affair. Oh, and they've ditched the triple-digit price tag in favor of $99.

A step rather than a leap towards the clouded future ahead, is the new Apple TV enough to hold us over until we get there? Is it competitive with other TV streaming hardware and services? Will I ever stop asking questions and start answering them? You bet, after the break.

Apple TV in 10 minutes - Everything you need to know

Apple TV in 10 minutes - Everything you need to know

Everything you need to know about Apple TV (2010) in 10 minutes -- video quick start guide.

There should be a video here but Viacom has flagged it with YouTube due to it showing copyright content. I used a few seconds each of iTunes rental, Netflix, and streaming content to show the quality of the video -- color, quality, artifacts, staricasing, etc.-- which I absolutely consider fair use as a reviewer. I've filed an objection with YouTube on those fair-use grounds and hope YouTube quickly makes it available for embedding here, on TiPb, where it should be, and stops blocking international viewers. The link to the video on youtube is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdpleOnhGKs

Hopefully at least some of you can watch it on there for now.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Apple TV (2010) gallery

Apple TV (2010) gallery

Apple TV (2010) is small. When you consider how much space the internal power brick takes up, it's positively tiny. Here's a look at it compared to the original Apple TV, the iPad, iPhone 4, iPod touch 4, and iPod nano (2010). Did we say it's tiny yet?

We've also included a bunch of shots of the interface so you can how similar, and yet different it is from the original Apple TV, and from the other iOS devices.

Check them out after the break.

Would Verizon still want iPhone if they could fork over Android and make their own Droid OS?

Would Verizon still want iPhone if they could fork over Android and make their own Droid OS?

We keep hearing rumors about iPhone on Verizon but at the same time Verizon is doing gangbusters with their Android-powered Droid line, and running roughshod over Google to do it in a way they'd never be able to with Apple. So what if they took the next illogical step and just forked Android and made their own Verizon (or Droid) OS?

MobileMe Gallery app updated for iOS 4, iPad, Retina Display

MobileMe Gallery app updated for iOS 4, iPad, Retina Display

Apple has finally updated MobileMe Gallery to version 1.2 with support iOS 4 fast app switching, iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4 Retina Display, and made it a universal app for the iPad to boot!

And, like Remote app, all it took was Chad complaining for weeks and months on the podcast to do it! (Be afraid, Keynote Remote...!)

Also supported is the iOS-only ability to see friends' galleries even if you yourself don't have a MobileMe account. Nice.

Screen shots after the break. If you've tried out the new, improved, MobileMe Gallery app for iPhone or iPad, let us know if you liked it.

[iTunes link - thanks everyone who sent this in]
