I confirmed BB Curve's info at an ATT store today - my wife and I can keep our FT500 plan and add $30.00 for unlimited data on the iPhone. Happy times!

I just got off the phone with ATT, and I got some bad news. It turns out that I was wrong. You can't add a line to a Nation plan for $9.99. You have to get a FamilyTalk plan. But Some good news is that you can keep the plan that you have right now, but you'll have to add an iPhone data plan to it for at least $30.00. That plan has unlimited data, email, visual voicemail, and 200 text messages. I though they canceled the text messages. Awesome!

Sweet. The iReady sheet doesn't suggest that such a move is possible, but I really appreciate the clarification. Thanks for the answers, all!

@ DB: The $129 plan is for 2 iPhones with 2 data plans. If you have a RAZR and an iPhone, then as both kyle and BB Curve 8310 Owner suggest, you just sign up for the normal family talk plan as opposed to the iPhone family talk plan at $69 (price for 1st 2 lines) and add the iPhone data plan for $30.

according to the apple store, you can keep your existing family plan and just sign up for the iphone data plan.

Can't you get a Nation plan and just add a line for $9.99? That's what I'm planning on doing.

I still can't comprehend how, with the published plans, I will not end up owing ATT at least an additional $70.00/month to keep my wife's RAZR in a FamilyTalk plan. We're both eligible to upgrade, but now use the FT550 plan.

The cheapest FT plan for the Phone 3G is $129.99 - for two "regular" lines. So now, instead of paying $69.99/mo. for my phone and another $10.00/mo. for my wife to share my pool of minutes with her RAZR, I have to pay $129.00 for a minimum of 700 minutes - or get separate plans and pay $108.99 for the 550 minute iPhone plan and a separate 450 minute individual plan for my wife.

It feels like ATT is imposing a penalty for existing two line Family Talk customers who want a single iPhone. Am I missing something here?
