i am also considering migrating to the apple developer platform due to the potential of the iphone apps. I have been writing code for dos and windows for more than twenty years. It is time to enter the XXI century technology. Will Apple limit the number of developers in the future?

Why do the restriction. That sounds counter intuitive at to restrict the distribution, I reckon loads of people will have taken and paid for a legitimate beta. I have and am an apple convert as a result. Fabulous - good by Windows and I am also looking seriously at binning my laptop and replacing with a Mac. I liked the early Sony Ericsson support for their phones - they dropped the ball and now apple are taking / picking up that mantle for me.

@frog
I agree with you... Possibly in the future Apple will only let beta testers that are actually connected to a developer who has an application on the App Store.

And MMS/Tethering* is still there... You can even edit the fields now! :p

*provided you already have the edited carrier info installed before UPGRADING to beta 5

It's written all over the developer site that MMS & tethering are not supported in the betas, and should not be used. Obviously some people are ignoring that, and Apple has had to know physically try and stop it.
I think Apple next time around, will be HEAVILY restricting beta developers - the current lot are pushing the friendship to far; will end up ruining it for everyone.
