I did the update and then bought the new phone on Friday. To upgrade it cost me over 500.00 dollars (!!!) an extra 200. just because I'm a loyal AT&T customer already. It just doesn't make sense to bite the hand that feed ya.

A year ago, I expected Apple would eventually evolve their toy into a tool for business. They have failed. After a year of being patient...Waiting for the iPhone to have the voice features PDA/Smartphones had YEARS ago, I've had it. I swore I'd never willingly buy another Microsoft based product. Now add Apple and their stunningly inadequate product and software to "the list." I'm heading out today to buy a BlackBerry storm and will not entertain nor recommend another product from Apple Corp. if you had the beta or the gm version its the same but if u are like me and still wanna update for the hell of it just hit restore but delete the actual 3.0 file u downloaded before to do the beta update and before it does a restore it will download the file from apple and then install

I ugraded my wifes phone and then tried the itouch but it wiped it and gave me an error message!!! I can re-synch it so it aint that bad but the 12.99 fee was a slap in the face!! Iguess the iphone users are more of a cash cow so they give it to them free! I resent having to pay 12.99 and then it didn't even install it. I just got an error , itunes pop-up. Oh dear, i will try again later hopefully i can rebuild my faithful itouch to its formor glory and even get the 3.0 for less tan 12.99 times 3 tries!!

Apple said release date is June 17th PERIOD. Not release time @ 0:00 PST. That would mean Hawaii would have gotten it on the 16th. The poor Austrailians had to wait the whole day. You don't hear them crying like you snide, ruthless, arrogant Twinnings sipping impatient finger pointing idiots! Apple did what they said they would do. They relaesed on June,17th (for the world) not for an island where you all have a mouth bigger than the country in which you live. You got your update so quit whining. Now you can start complaining about all the features you thought you were going to get with the upgrade until you realized you didn't read the fine print. If America and Apple are such a burden in your life then get rid of your iPhone and go for something that suits your needs. Nobody forced or begged you to get one in the first place. tried a bunch of times kept getting the no server message. rebooted iPhone and iTunes. tried a few more times. and now its installing! HUZZAH!

I think its all about trying to click update over and over again until a window for you to join the server opens. (all about timing)
