Busted Windows 7 + Intel P55 Express iPhone Sync Fixed for Gigabyte Motherboards — Asus and MSI Pending

That annoying issue where iPhone sync would fail for Windows 7 users with Intel P55 Express chipsets? Gigabyte has issued a beta BIOS update for their motherboards that should fix things right up.
Asus and MSI, which also use the P55 express on their motherboards, haven’t issued any updates yet, but hopefully will soon.
If you’re rocking the Gigabyte and do the update, let us know how it works for you.

Good job windows. Good job.
yes its windows fault how mobo mfg control the bios and chips on the board.
LAWL
Gee Rene, so does mean you have finally been able to grasp the concept that this has nothing to do with MS??
Where’s all the Apple bashers? Hiding?
@fastlane
If your wondering where the fanboy oblivious people are. Yes, probably hiding or on a weekend field trip haha. Truth is, you have to be completely blind to realize this was not Windows fault, period. We all knew things syncs, and various other things would break upon the release of a new OS since you cannot simply account for every single chipset or device out there.
It’s neither the Manufacture’s fault or MS’s fault from what I can see and at least they are providing the necessary fixes via BIOS updates to fix it. Can you imagine if one of them didn’t?
Windows 7+ motherboards other than p55 didn’t have this bug. For my system Windows 7 + iphone sync-> No problem. Windows 7 simply rocks.
Actually, I have this error occuring with an Intel PM45 chipset, Windows 7 Professional, and my iPhone 3GS. Here’s hoping it was just a fluke, but overall iTunes seems really unstable when syncing with my phone, and has been crashing a tonne. Maybe ASUS’ll release a new BIOS update for my laptop, I ‘unno.
@fastlane
No, they were rushing here to bash Apple but most of them got BSOD and the rest are scanning for viruses :p
that was a joke btw, I can imagine posters like Joe McG having heart attack after reading the above.
@Tony:
Stop trying to post with special fonts and maybe we will be able to read what you post.
@icebike
Whenever I post from my mac it has a chance of getting screwed up. I am not using any special fonts. I am posting this using FireFox to see if that corrects it.
@Icebike @Tony
OS and browser shouldn’t make a difference, however we use a pseudo-rich-text formatting markup/markdown that might cause problems if people aren’t aware of it. I edited the reply to remove the CODE tags (it was presenting it as though code samples in monospace).
@Tony:
Uhhh… are you suggesting I ever blamed anyone?
Here is the original thread…

I didn’t even comment in it. Take a pill.
Relax. Did I say I was talking about you? Nope. My first line in the post was the only thing @ you and it was meant to further your statement that the Apple bashers were in hiding
Mac’s are BSODing more these days then Windows boxes. Only it is Black Screen Of Death followed by a replacement video card which will cost you three times more then it should and even then will be an outdated card. If you have a laptop you will have to send it off to Apple for repair and will come back with a freshly formatted hard drive. Anyone talking about BSODs on Windows needs to move on. They are incredibly rare these days and when they do happen it is due to failing hardware.
Hello Gigabyte, what is going on with the P55-UD6 motherboard. Having the same sync problems with iPhone/iTunes ver 9, Win 7 32-bit. I don’t feel this is a Win 7 problem, I am able to sync all day long to my laptop running iTunes 9, Win 7 with a 965G Intel Chipset.
For Gigabyte users, looks like you still have to go to http://www.gigabyte.com.tw as the latest beta BIOS fixes have not yet been posted at http://www.gigabyte.us. Kind of annoyed since the fix has been there since Friday Nov 6 but Gigabyte has yet to contact me – even though we’ve been troubleshooting this for a few weeks now.
Also as others point out, I can confirm this is just iPhone and iPod Touch devices, only when connected to a system using a P55 Express chipset. On the same computer with the Sync issue I could sync 2 other normal iPods with no issues – that’s Win7 64-bit on a Gigabyte UD3R.
There is already a Beta-BIOS for ASUS boards…
ASUS released BIOS Version 0915 update which “Improves compatibility with some USB device” I just Flashed my ASUS P7P55D PRO, and my iPhone 2G finally works… CAUTION: When updating BIOS, write down everything cause BIOS WILL GET RESET ! I took photos of every screen with my camera
THIS WORKS!! FINALLY Occasionally get error- cannot sync, but just click ok and it continues to sync successfully
I have a msi p55 gd65 mobo. I couldnt connect my iphone 2g at all. I decided to try an old usb1 hub i had and it works fine, a bit slow but fine. Hopefully this will help msi owners till new bios
Wasn’t exactly what I was seeking but started reading the initial few lines and it was useful so ended up reading the whole post, thanks.
I have gigabyte P55M-UD2 with intel core i5. I have installed latest bios – no luck. I just installed the newly released iTunes 9.1 – still no luck…
installed ASUS BIOS update today – build 1408 – on a P7P55d Pro mobo – seems to have cured the iphone issues. win7 64bit, 4GB RAM, iItunes 9.1.0.79
I just installed 1408 on P7P55D LE mobo, and still get the sync error on my itouch. Do you have to move jumpers on the motherboard to clear the CMOS RTC RAM data?
I didnt change anything on the mobo – no cmos reset. My problem was that it would not connect to the iphone – just produced errors. Once those were cured it syncs fine. I suspect it was a usb issue. I did a thorough unistall of itunes – including the apple mobile device usb driver in device manager.
Thanks Chris. I’m having the same problem with trying to sync my itouch. I tried a uninstall of itunes and all apple items, but still won’t sync. Anyone have any other suggestions?
Hi there, just doing some research for my Asus site. Amazing the amount of information on the web. Not what I was looking for, but interesting page. Have a great day.
It raised and raised into the air. It was damp and chill. Was this a subterfugea means to an acquaintance? Et la nuit tombait, nuit de mars, toujours triste, sous la voГ»te effeuillГ©e des vieux arbres. To have been caught amongst the animals would have been destruction; for, do what they would to get out of one’s way, the weight of the thousands pushing on would have crushed anything that impeded them.
