iPhone Designer Jony Ive “Objectified”
Apple VP of Industrial Design, Jonathan Ive discusses the philosophy behind everything from the iPhone to the iMac for the documentary Objectified and, quite frankly, shows why he’s the best there is at what he does, and why what he does is oh, so nice.
Watch the video. Especially if you’re designing for Apple’s competition. Please.

Jony is amazing at his work. Never made an ugly product and he just gets better and better. But hey for $2,000,000 a year I don’t think he’s allowed to make one ugly haha

Love Jony Ive.. He is passionate about what he does and you can see the results. Definitely a fanboy man crush..
Jony Ive is not unlike the minimalist composer Cage. He waxed philosophical in a way that most people don’t care to follow.
An example of Cage’s work: a piece called “4:33″…the “musical” score is several pages of blank staves. So the musician sets up his instrument on stage and prepares to play…and never does. The point is that the ambient sound; that of the audience shifting in their seats, a few throats clearing, an occasional sniffle…that is the manifestation of the “music” in that moment…which goes on for 4 minutes and 33 seconds.
The concepts have meaning to the creators and ultimately thrust design and composition to promote innovation…but not many really care to take the journey to the ultimate product.
I guess I am saying, I am glad Jony thinks as he does, but I am far less interested in his process. lol
