iPhone Going Virgin Mobile in Canada

While the US continues to enjoy one single iPhone carrier, Canada is about to welcome their 4th (or 5th if you count Rogers subsidiary Fido as a separate carrier), and that carrier is Virgin Mobile:
Virgin Mobile Canada will launch iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS in Virgin Mobile Retail Stores and online in Canada in the coming months. For more information on iPhone, please visit.
MobileSyrup pegs February 2010 as launch date for Virgin Mobile Canada, though they’re still playing it coy with the old “coming months” line.
No word yet on how they’ll advertise, but we bet Apple won’t let them be as risque as BlackBerry… Either way, if you held off on Rogers/Fido, and kept waiting through Bell and Telus, is Virgin Mobile finally the provider for you?

To many providers. It is staring to be like the razr. Go Pre. Go Blackberry. Go Droid. Go Anything but the Razr and the iRazr.
I hope this means Virgin will be getting the iPhone in the UK too. They’re by far my favourite carrier.
Virgin has had iPhone in Oz for a while now. I can’t see why anyone would go with them though, because I’m pretty sure they use Vodafone’s network and the plans are much the same.
This is no big deal since Virgin Mobile Canada is owned by Bell and uses the same network. In other words, this is exactly the same as the Rogers/Fido situation.
I don’t think the girl in the photo is a Virgin…
Lol @ DG
@ Jimmy: yeah, cuz no one else has this “Blackberry” that you speak of.
Do they even have 3G or edge.
Because of Virgin’s relationship with Bell, they will have 3G and share their 21mbs HSPA network.
Isn’t virgin mobile a Cdma provider?
@Adriflo: since Bell Canada went GSM, and since Virgin Mobile Canada is owned by Bell they’re going GSM as well. So yes they were, but now they’re also GSM.
And since they are owned by Bell, we really still just have 3 providers in Canada offering it now (I don’t count Fido as it’s owned by Rogers).
Love Virgin Girl:)
Virgin is not OWNED by Bell. They just buy Bell network access in bulk and then package it and sell it to low end consumers such as teenagers and infrequent cel phone users. By low end I mean low $$/month. Consumers that Bell packages do not fit very well.
Virgin mobile Canada IS 100% owned by Bell. They used to be 50% owners but in May 2009 became 100% owners.
Is it coming to Kansas? My dad said that he would get me an iPhone if they switch to Virgin Mobile. My parents will only let me use Virgin Mobile cuz it is the cheapest they could find and there nice people.
