I’m willing to sacrifice voice and data for it to go to sprint…. I’m on sprint “meaning i cannot use voice and data” so i am used to it. And i would love it if the iPhone could come to sprint, and not have to change my perfect “at least for me” plan and price. Just my two cents here guys.

I agree. The same way Google Voice won't be missed by 99% of users who don't know about it or need it. Yet, it's commented about here as if it's a show stopper, when in reality, it isn't even close, just as voice data isn't.

Yeah, I get it that some people use voice+data.

Its just that this is something virtually no one does.

Most users don't know it exists, and wouldn't miss it.

And users NEW to the iPhone wouldn't miss it.

And users on Verizon wouldn't miss it.

So long story short, its NOT a show stopper for iPhone getting to Verizon.

It is far from essential, never convenient, unless you enjoy putting your phone on speaker and sharing the conversation with everyone in ear shot.

Speaker phone? I use a Bluetooth and fiddle with data during almost every phone call. Most of time I don't need to, it's just something to do while I'm talking. But I'm very often asked if I've received files, etc... and it's so easy to just click the Mail icon, check, and respond. Nobody else hears the person on the other end but me.

I use data during calls quite a lot. And I have lots of iPhone friends that also enjoy that capability on a regular basis. I, and they, would certainly miss that feature!

Also, have you heard of a thing called Bluetooth? You don't have to be on speakerphone to enjoy data usage on a call, silly.

Until something is actually announced by Apple it is still a rumor. Maybe we will hear more at MacWorld in Feb.

I use voice and data at the same time pretty much every day but that’s me.I like being able to use voice and data at the same time. But I believe that most iPhone users don’t know that they might have that capability on there iPhone. Ps this is just my opinion!

The iPhone uses WCDMA, which Qualcomm developed. I’d be surprised if this rumour isn’t just a mix up about technologies.

People on this blog who rant on and on about needing Data at the same time as Voice constitute something like 1% of the user base of the iPhone. In the real world, virtually nobody does that.

Nobody on Verizon does this, so so it should be PLAINLY CLEAR, even to the most narrow minded, that they would NEVER miss data and voice at the same time.

So get over yourself. I've actually used voice+data maybe 5 times in all the time I've owned an iPhone. It is far from essential, never convenient, unless you enjoy putting your phone on speaker and sharing the conversation with everyone in ear shot.

Second: opinion makers on this blog who shale remain nameless, but who's initials are Chad Garrett GROSSLY over estimate the amount of work it takes to make an iPhone with a different radio.

People: Its a DROP IN CHIP replacement. ZERO Programming changes needed. Infineon (who makes the GSM radio chipset) already have this chip in their inventory, and would fall all over themselves to assist Apple to make this work by Noon Thursday. They already did this for the China market and the Korea market. Its Trivial. I suspect Apple already has CDMA/EVDO iPhones in the lab.

I'm not saying this rumor is any more true than the last 12 rumors. Just saying that its EASY, and nobody would miss voice+data on the putative target networks.

Does anyone think Steve Jobs will make a deal with Verizon after they flipped him the finger with the Droid? Jobs has a memory like an elephant and can hold a grudge for a long time. Although he will use rumors to get a better deal with AT&T when they sign another contract.

CDMA? I think that defeats one important multi-tasking which is voice-data.

Going for either Verizon on Sprint is like downgrading in terms of speed. We all wanted speed. Data when we need it. Not data after we hang up.

Perhaps they are after CDMA markets outside the US.
