iPhone HD/iPhone 4G white faceplate

Could the 4th generation iPhone HD/iPhone 4G bring Apple’s traditional white and black iPhone color options full around to the faceplate?

That’s the rumor, there’s the pic above. You want?

    Yes yes yes!!!

    Sent from my iPad.

  2. Rob says:

I’ve said this on twitter, lets not judge till its actually on the keynote, I think it could be interesting

  3. Jr says:

    No. (Thanks.)

  4. websyndicate says:

I always but white I dont like black and no im not racist.

  5. Fedy says:

no thanks, I don’t think a “faceplate” is needed.

  6. OmariJames says:

No. It’s fake. The last time we saw a iPhone face plate with two horizonal speakers it turned out to be fake. Who knows.

  7. Lupo says:

    No pink? Meh…

    Sent from my Motorola Razr

  8. Michael says:

No, I just prefer the black version.

  9. E Pow says:

    WHITE, WHITE, WHITE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Freiteez says:

White sells for more on eBay because of it’s “rarity”. Let’s see it like the iPod nano and have every color of the rainbow. And let us customize it. Black and dark red iPhone ftw.

  11. Adam says:

@OmariJames: I don’t know what that is, but it’s not a speaker. When you see the other picture from behind, there is not a hole there and the speaker hole is very evident.

I for one hope this is real. Been waiting for a white back AND front for a long, long time. Also, it would sell extremely well in foreign markets. Japanese and other east-asian consumers LOVE all white phones.

  12. Ryan says:

White ‘faceplate’ with big black screen in the middle. Eww.. I think it would look disgusting.

  13. WHO DAT says:

    We want SILVER agian ……..

  14. JRB says:

    White white white please!!

I’m planning on making the switch to iPhone from Blackberry (applause, please) and am very much going to miss the simple, clean lines of my Beautiful white Bold.

(I know, I know, what took me so long? =})

  15. JRB says:

    Oh, and @Ryan,

The black screen in the middle of a white phone isn’t a big deal. When the screen is off, it’s not like you’re going to just be sitting around looking at the phone, you know what I mean? And when you are using the phone, the screen obviously won’t be black!

  16. Adam says:

@JRB When viewing outdoors, a white border would be a visual problem for seeing the screen. Screen technology just isn’t bright enough. Also, just because you don’t stare at a device when it’s off doesn’t mean it should look ugly.

  17. ghostface147 says:

Why is it always about race? lol…..I prefer the black phone. I had a white 3G, but swapped out the back cases.

  18. utvol06 says:

I have a white 3GS, I’ll probably go black this time around unless the white version just looks a lot better. I think a white faceplate may decrease view ability of the screen under certain lighting situations though.

  19. Ted says:

I think its funny there is no official confirmation that the next iphone will be 4g. The only network with that available right now is sprint. My guess it will just be and HD version of the GSM phone.

  20. chris says:

I’m guessing the extra “hole” event hough it isn’t is either an LED ALert for emails/txts…or….a sleep puls like on the Macbooks

  21. chris says:

@Ted….clueless no is saying it will be 4G as in Network, 4G as it’s the 4th Generation iPhone…dude

  22. JPSAL says:

    A white faceplate? NO!

  23. tomuky says:

    BLUE?!

  24. Ahmad says:

I’m really waitting for the new iPhone and this from white cover is another reason why i want it so bad right now

  25. Robbieb says:

Im pretty sure that second hold would be the front facing camera

  26. OmariJames says:

@Adam , i see what you mean. Maybe it’s a new version. of their proximity sensor. I always wondered why apple never had a white front … With the white back.

  27. Steve Jobs says:

We feel that a white face plate in addition to the NEGRO plate was very much needed in the iPhone 2010 update.

  28. OmariJames says:

A lot of you are talking about how the white will make viewing difficult in certain lighting situations. Remember that the new screen is rumored to have IPS , in pane switching, which allows you to view the display at any angle.

There’s another technology the new iPhone will feature that also helps with viewing angles.

I used a white case on my iPhone for a long while and it never gave me problems in terms of viewing the screen.

  29. Jeremy says:

Wow, how did the “Steve Jobs” comment get approved?

I don’t like the faceplates being different colors, to each their own.

  30. presto619 says:

Whites nice and clean BUT nothing makes a screen pop like a black bezel i.e. New MacBooks, iMacs, and 99.9999% of TVs.

Check these renderings on black whit and other colorways: http://jaxov.com/2010/04/iphone-4g-prototype-in-different-colors-photos/

  31. steph says:

I would love the white one!

White doesn’t show as many smudges!

  32. Joost says:

I’d take black but I would like seeing a unibody-white case.

  33. t0m says:

@Ted When everyone says 4G iPhone they’re refering to 4th Generation.

  34. Macboy15 says:

@Ted also that 4g that sprint has you speak of is only avalible in a couple cities and not as fast as people think. As far as the faceplates I’ll stick with the black.

  35. Mitchell says:

@Steve jobs don’t try and fake the real Steve

  36. Macboy15 says:

I apologize for all the sense-less comments I have posted so far. I cant help I am just another Apple Fanboi.

  37. Dexter says:

    Invisible faceplate!

  38. Dexter says:

    @Fake Steve Jobs

    That’s NOT funny.

  39. Edie says:

@chris, 4G is the network, G4 is the fourth generation. That’s the only way it may possibly work, and possibly make more sense than confusing people.

  40. Edie says:

@macboy15, Sprint would just better be off with the iPhone if it were CDMA. Atleast Sprint DOES have 4G network, and in 25+ markets(I think it’s 26?) So stop your complaing. But yeah, maybe if it was Verizon with 4G, maybe your ideas would probably switch around. Just don’t be ashamed that Sprint is ahead of its technology(network.)

  41. Noodles says:

If there is an iphone 4G it is going to Sprint, otherwise you cannot call it 4G.

  42. Edie says:

@Noodles: Exactly, thank you, you normal person that understands the 4G and G4 system(:

  43. J1CA1 says:

    White!!!!!!IPhone

  44. Lady Kaede says:

Maybe gunmetal grey, but white? Like the G1? That looksterrible. That’s not a 21st century techagic wonder, it looks like a women’s makeup compact from 1956 (but weird).

  45. Carlos says:

Wow I want colo WHITE!!! wooooo!!!

  46. Luc Richard says:

    Yes please!

  47. Devin Briggs says:

    Faceplates are gay.

  48. Eagleyesmith says:

Yea, mos def would love this in white. I’ve already said that for my next iPhone I would get the white version. It just has a nice look to it.

  49. Chris says:

I hope so! I love my white 3G and I’d upgrading to this next-gen iPhone, so I’d love another white one.

  50. Stephen says:

Meh…. I can see the white causing glare.. But like everything out there, some people will like it and others won’t. Personally I think the current black iPhone is so much sexier then the white. I think white is more for the fanboy because pretty much everything else mac is white. I would love a purple iPhone to match my current gen nano, but even if they give color options I’m not gonna upgrade unless there’s enough changes to the physical stats of the 4th gen.
