Verizon iPhone pre-orders sell out

In just about 18 hours the Verizon iPhone 4 pre-orders have sold out with Verizon now saying:

We are no longer taking pre-sale orders.

Experience yours when it's available online and in stores.

ONLINE 02.09.11 3:01 AM EST

IN STORES 02.10.11 7:00 AM local time

Even with a few rough patches, I wonder how many they went through -- 1 million? More? Did you manage to get yours? Has it already shipped? Or will you be lining up come V-day?

    • Brian says:

I am so bummed. My order was complete BEFORE midnight, meaning I was one of the first, and my order status is still in process. As a side note, I had a Google Chrome extension called Page Monitor watch both the Apple 'buy iphone' page and the Verizon buy page and it told me immediately when the pages changed to where I could by the phone which was about 10 minutes before midnight CA time. I was very happy that that worked!

My bet for opening weekend, spanning Feb 10 to Feb 13, Apple will have sold 1.5m Verizon iPhones. The run rate for each of the next 7 weeks will be about 550k. They will sell 6m Verizon iPhones in Q1 11, with approximately 1m of that in the channel. They will be supply constrained.

If Apple could ship CDMA iPhones in China by Q2, it's going to be lights out. 10m CDMA iPhone quarter. That's if they could get it selling in China by April.

  11. wcarlson40 says:

It doesn't say "Sold out", it just says "we are no longer taking pre-orders". That's not the same thing.

  12. Pat MyGroin says:

    Hmmm!!

I thought with the multitude of "superior" Roid platform phones...............Captivate, Motivate, Capitulate, Abbreviate, Stargate, Nodate, add another 20-30 with "ate" at the end, that iPhone 4 on Verizon would be a failure and Roid was ready to take over the world.

I know I'm gonna regret this, but I need some of the "Roid Trollers" to enlighten everyone with one of their genius takes of why it ain't so.........waiting, waiting......

  13. Jack Storey says:

Did manage to get mine, no thanks to Verizon! After an hour and a half (starting @ the 3am e.s.t. opening) of repeated VZ website errors, I followed the advice of a VZ forum participant who said he got his from the Apple store. 10 minutes after logging on, had my phone ordered! Thanks Apple, boo hiss VZ and your COO that stated in USA Today that VZ was well prepared for the onslaught of orders... lies!

Footnote: Best friend logged on at 5am to VZ and had his order in 10 minutes. His is shipping from Memphis, TN while mine is shipping from China. His ETA is Monday 02/07 while mine is Tuesday 02/08. Just glad I got one coming at all, given the fiasco with VZ!

  14. Beverly E says:

My husband got his through 2/7/2011. The camera does not work. : ( Guess we will take it back. I was going to get one. Not anymore.
