Apple makes white iPhone official, available Thursday April 28
Apple has finally made the white iPhone 4 release date official -- Thursday April 27. You'll be able to grab it via Apple online, Apple retail store, AT&T, Verizon Wireless, international carrier stores, and some Apple Authorized Resellers like Best Buy.
“The white iPhone 4 has finally arrived and it’s beautiful,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “We appreciate everyone who has waited patiently while we’ve worked to get every detail right.”
So there. Let us never speak of it again. Except for our launch coverage, of course.

The iPhone 5 is almost out I don't understand why you would buy this iPhone 4. If you have waited almost a year now why not just wait till iPhone 5. Just my opinion.
Most people really don't care about their phones that much. I know two people who just purchased an iPhone last week and a third person who was planning on getting one this weekend. To man people if it does email, texts and web with apps- it's more than good. Regular "non-geek" consumers purchase things Ike phones and computers based on their own needs and the life-cycle of their own gadgets- not release dates.
Now, as for me (and presumably you) I wouldn't sign a two year contract with the white iPhone right now because of the likelihood of a new iPhone. I would, however, sell my current iPhone 4 and buy the new white one if I didn't have to re- up my contract. I wanted the white one the day the 4 was announced. Love the old-skool white Apple look.
How is it almost out? Analysts have already stated Apple hasn't even begun to order the parts for mass production. At this rate it won't be till atleast an October release.

Unless the iPhone 4 has true 4G LTE, it won't be enough of an upgrade for some. Sure, the rumored aluminum back looks nicer (again, to some) - but I just don't think the feature upgrades are going to drive people en masse to upgrade 4 to 5 like they did from 3GS to 4.
I think the 5 will be an incremental upgrade, and for some people the white iPhone 4 will be fine for them.
Okay, that should be "unless the iPhone 5 has true 4G LTE". Sorry about that.
For the record, I have a black iPhone 4 32GB that I've had since first release, and regardless of contract I won't even consider the iPhone 5.
(I also have a first gen iPad 3G 64GB, and have no desire to upgrade to any new version of the iPad until it gets the Retina Display - but that's another topic entirely...)
It boils down to economics. If you're upgrade eligible, you can sell old iphone to easily pay for new one with a little change left over.
The iphone 4 is getting more sluggish with every iOS 4 update. Wanna bet iOS 5 won't have an even greater effect since Apple will focus on taking advantage of the A5 processor? Not to mention the iphone 5 will have hspa+
Yawn for me. My iPad 2 delivers tomorrow coincidence? Now the people who waited with your old phone, my sis included, can get the white iPhone 4 now. Though I've had mine for 10 months now, and for a few more ahead :)

You knew it was coming. Best buy confirmed it and BAM, the day after expected. If only I had the money to afford one of these.
If Apple is launching iPhone 4 white, then is it an indication that iPhone 5 is nowhere near to launch by June?
I would say yes. I don't expect an iphone 5 until around Christmas. But even then it will b quite similar to the 4. Apple is still selling a ton of iPhone 4's so to put out an entirely new phone right now doesn't make sense.
I think it will probably have the same body, A5 chip, 512mb ram, 8-megapixel rear with 720p recording, VGA front camera, all with no change to screen size. I think this is more realistic. There might also be a repositioning of the antenna as well.
They have no need to reposition the antenna, as they fixed the problem in iOS 4.
Just picked up an iPhone 4 in white in New Brunswick with Bell! Could very well be the first one sold in Canada (being on East Coast)! They have 5 in stock... make that 4 now!!

It it's ok to buy this. Even if it is a device that had been available for many months. Our turns out that iPhoneso, just like other smartphones, work even after a few months. How nifty?!
I'd pass because there are, and have been, better devices available...not just because this is a late release.

I love my iPad 2/iMac and previous ipods; my wife loves her iphone 4 and it has been perfect as her first ever smartphone.
I am a very patient Verizon customer, but if the next gen iphone is not out in June/July, I will be sticking with my Android phones. I will sadly continue to not get my extensive itunes resticted movies/tv library on my phone, but I guess that is what my iPad is for now. The iphone's late introduction to Verizon has been hard to take, but a fall or winter release date is just to much to take.

Great for the people that want it. But for me it's black FTW.
All this kinda confirms is that there will be no iPhone launch at WWDC. That's extremely disappointing. Apple should have called this one a loss and admitted defeat. This iPhone 5 better be worth it too, for having them possibly push it back and not just some bull 4 to 4S crap.
Iphone 5 could again be more about software, i.e. incremental HW update as we all expect and iOS5 features that are only available on the newest member of the family, cfr. personal hotspot & Iphone 4 exclusivity.
As long as they also go after Android mid-market by revamping the 3GS as Iphone Classic I don't mind they play this game.

Bleh. A pox on the white iPhone. Still disgusted that Apple announced it as shipping last summer, but has only delivered now. What a disappointment.

I just purchased my black iPhone 4 last Friday thinking that all of this iPhone 4 in white was nonsense and it wouldn't happen.
Do you think that Apple will allow people who have bought a black one in the past 3 months or so to exchange it for a white one like they did whenever the iPad 2 came out? Because, I know that at that time, if you had purchased an iPad 1 within 3 months before the iPad 2 release, you could exchange it for an iPad 2?
