UPDATED: Facebook for iPad available now!

UPDATE: It's out! Go get it!

The waiting is over, folks, as Facebook has let us know that Facebook for iPad is set to hit the App Store today! It appears as though it will be available as an update to the Facebook for iPhone app.

In addition to an interface designed for the iPad, some of the app's great advantages over the web is that you can chat and play Facebook games.

I complained nearly a year ago about Facebook not having an iPad app, and it's great to see them finally release one. I sure as heck can't wait to get my hands on it!

  • Enjoy bigger, better photos - Your photos take on new life on the iPad. They're big, high-res and easy to flip through—like a real photo album.
  • Focus on what matters - With less on the screen, it's easier to zoom in on your friends' photos, updates and stories.
  • Navigate anywhere, fast - Just tap, slide or pinch to get from one screen to another and back again in no time.
  • Never lose your place - Use simplified navigation to send a message, see your notifications or browse your bookmarks without switching screens.
  • Play games on the go - Play your favorite Facebook games wherever you are, and on a bigger screen.
  • Tap to send messages - A simple dropdown menu makes it easy to scan and send messages without visiting your inbox.

We'll let you know as soon as the update becomes available!

Get a life
Not everyone is loaded like you and can afford a new phone every time Apple tells you to.
Grow the f up

I can't wait... I bought an iPad 2 yesterday and told myself that I was only going to d/l apps that were made for the iPad only. That may change, but for now, iPad only. I really don't use FB, but it's nice to have if I want to check something. Also, I like Zynga Poker (haven't played it in over a year) and might play it if it's accessible through FB as I don't like the Zynga app -- battery drains and gets my iPhone hot.

INteresting.... the iPhone version shows as supporting the iPad now... but it doesn't display in the iPad results.... crazy...
downloading!

Delete and then re-install the app. You'll need to re-login but I was having the same problems as you and it works now.

If you're having crash issues - delete the app from your device... and from iTunes. Then, re-download and sync if you download on iTunes or, if you downloaded on the device - it should be good to go, or respring.

Worked like a charm. And I didn't even have to do anything with iTunes. Just deleted the app, hard reset, reinstall app, bam! Fixed.

u simply need to delete and reinstall. it's not necessarily poor programming. I've seen it with other apps' kafir updates. delete/reinstall, and you'll be fine.

Having same problem. Deleted app, and now iPhone is bricked. Apple logo frozen for over 2 hours now with no relief in sight. Will not complete a hard reset and iTunes will not recognize phone.

Damn, I was hoping I wasn't the only one. Have you guys managed to get your phones back up yet?

This happened to me. I just kept re starting over and over until it finally came on. I had to re start with charger connected to get it to work

It takes awhile to get past the splash screen but the app is pretty slick now. I really like the UI changes. Only issue is the news feed is trying to update/load nonstop right now.

I thought I'd lost my mind ... Then I remembered it's a Facebook app. It played beautifully on my iPad 2 but wouldn't install on my iPhone 4. Restarting the device did not help. Deleted and reinstalled. Problem appeared to be not in the download phase but installation. Make a cup of hot cocoa, come back to the device and voila! Works beautifully on pad & phone. Only wish now it could get me to my Facebook videos. Otherwise it's really the best way to go.

D'oh never mind I figured it out--just turn the iPad to landscape! I love the Facebook for iPad software! Don't know how I got along without it.

Took me a while to figure that out as well. Seems like you can only see the chat screen in landscape.

Don't know if anyone else has noticed this yet but after downloading the update I was in iFile and was looking in the images section of the Facebook app folder and found and the Facebook home screen icon named as "brandonandjeffwerehere" I just thought that was a little bit cheeky of them, and maybe some of you guys will like it too

I had no issues installing at all, but on my iPad 1, the app seems low-res, or stretched wrong or something, especially on all the text. Looks great on my iPhone.
Anyone else have this sort of issue?

Actually, just in case anyone else was having an issue, I uninstalled RetinaPad, and it's looking much nicer now.

Quit dropping your phones and restart them once in awhile.
Chrissake... we're all doomed when you people take over.
