iTunes Match online music locker launches internationally

iTunes Match now going live internationally

iTunes Match seems to be going live internationally right now -- and for real this time, not like yesterday. International iTunes users are now once again getting the sign up page for the iTunes Match. Folks in Canada, Ireland, Mexico, Australia, France, New Zealand and various other regions are reporting successful signs ups for the service.

Not everyone has been successful though. If you're having trouble:

  1. Make sure you've updated to iTunes 10.5.2
  2. Restart iTunes
  3. Haven't already activated 10 devices (PCs and/or iOS) on the same iTunes in the Cloud account.
  4. Jump into our iTunes Match Forum for trouble-shooting help.

It does seem as though the system is a little bit overloaded right now. But let us know when -- and where -- you successfully get yourself up and running, and how long iTunes Match says it's going to take to process your library.

It took me a couple of minutes for the initial search. I still have some songs that I have no idea why they are not matched, for example some songs with an "a" from the Beatles 1 album.
Overall, process was smooth and fast.

Signed up and matched fine. Only trouble I'm having is I can't turn it on on my iPhone 4. It's there in settings and I click to turn it on but when i go out and back in, it's turned off again.

Grr...All I keep getting is error 5002 - any suggestions?

Hmmm what if I have songs at a higher quality? Will they be downgraded to 256Kbps?
EDIT: Ah I see that those versions are not overwritten. However some of the songs on iTunes are encoded poorly. In some cases I've had to replace purchased music with - let's just say - alternatively sourced files. What about those?

Chris Matchett says:

Uh oh. Shuffle shuffles the entire library even if not locally installed. What about my data plan?

When I first tried to subscribe yesterday morning it said they were temporarily not accepting new members. Later yesterday I got to subscribe. It has been uploading ever since. It is on step 3, uploading artwork and tracks. Unfortunately it seems to be stuck at 46 of 7 thousand something tracks basically all day.
I just keep leaving it running. I have one other working Mac and an iPhone that use the same iTunes account and two older iPods. I've been waiting for this for a long time. As I have my music on one Mac, an older PowerMac G4 and my main machine is a MacBook Pro which has my contacts and calendar so I sync my phone to that Mac and use one of the old iPods when I want music on the go.
This may simplify my life some if it works well. I have many playlists including smart playlists. I'm making more and more use of meta data to rotate my music for instance when I'm in the gym.
I have lots of music I legally ripped from my CD collection plus some tracks I bought on iTunes or even elsewhere such as directly off indy record labels. I have a pretty good internet connection, but it has taken close to 24 hours now to upload 8000 tracks. Or perhaps it had to match 8000 then upload 7000 ish. I'm in Vancouver Island BC Canada using an upgraded Sawtooth G4.
