When you watch Samsung's first ad for its new Galaxy Gear smartwatch, it might look a little familiar. Samsung has spliced together clips of characters from several movies and TV shows, including Dick Tracy, Knight Rider, and the Power Rangers, using communication devices worn on their wrists.

Chinese regulators license iPhone to run on China Mobile

We learned during yesterday's iPhone event at Apple HQ that for the first time the new iPhone would be landing in China on launch day. Apple has thrown a separate event in Beijing this morning to officially launch the iPhone 5s and 5c there, and according to the Wall Street Journal, regulators have signed off on a license to run the iPhone on China Mobile:

iPhone said to be coming to NTT DoCoMo this fall

NTT DoCoMo, Japan's largest mobile carrier, will reportedly carry the iPhone starting this fall. While talks between Apple and NTT DoCoMo have been reported for awhile, it now seems that the deal is done. NTT DoCoMo has struggled against rivals that do carry the iPhone, according to Nikkei:

BMW adds Napster integration to its iPhone compatible Connected Drive in Europe

More and more our mobile devices and services are becoming integrated into our cars, and BMW has announced new support for Napster on their Connected Drive system for European drivers. Connected Drive has data connectivity to pull information from the cloud, and works in tandem with an iPhone which docks into the system. Through this, the car then gains access to all your Napster tracks, controllable on the in-car entertainment system.

New images have emerged out of Asia, that claims to accurate mockups of the next products to come in the iPhone line, the iPhone 5s and the 'low-cost' iPhone 5c. These aren't actual devices, but are purportedly mocked up units constructed by an accessory manufacturer so they can get a jump start on production before launch. Which "missing" feature do you want the most on the next iPhone?

Which "missing" feature do you want the most on the next iPhone? It's written "missing" very deliberately, since specifically we're talking about features that some of the latest competitor devices have brought with them to market recently. Apple doesn't make a habit of 'playing catchup' but there's a bunch of cool stuff out there that a whole lot of us would love to see included in the next iPhone.

Motorola, for example, has recently introduced a handful of devices that all pack some pretty interesting things. The new Droid Maxx, for example, has a great honkin' battery stuffed in the back that promises a full 48-hour battery life. Then, along came their Moto X with an always listening functionality for its voice-controlled, natural language interface. We've previously run polls to gather your thoughts on all of these, but now we want to see how they rank alongside some other cool features.

Sprint reports Q2 2013 numbers, 1.4 million iPhone units sold

Today the earnings circus rolls around to Sprint, where it's their turn to announce some quarterly figures for the period of Q2 2013. Top of the line Sprint posted a pretty sizeable operating loss of $874 million. Of note in regards to the iPhone were mixed results; overall unit sales were down slightly on the previous quarter, but a good percentage of those sold were to new customers.
