U.S. Department of Defense set to approve Apple devices soon

The US Department of Defense, which has been preparing to allow its employees to use iPhones and certain Android devices for some time, is expected to grant security approval for devices from Apple and Samsung in the coming weeks. There will be separate security approvals for iOS and Samsung Galaxy device. DoD employees will be allowed to use iPhones and iPads for non-classified communications like email. Smartphones outshipped feature phones for the first time in Q1 2013, with the iPhone reaching a new first-quarter personal high for shipments. Apple had the second-highest number of smartphones shipped, coming in behind Samsung.

Apple reportedly once again top US smartphone vendor, increases lead over Samsung

Apple was the top smartphone vender in the United States between December and February according to the latest comScore report. Apple captured 38.9% of a smartphone market of 133.7 million people, up 3.9% from the last measurement period.

T-Mobile carrier update coming this week to enable LTE on existing iPhones

While nearly two million people have brought iPhones onto T-Mobile's network despite the carrier not offering the iPhone until the 12th of April, they've been saddled with service that's not as good as it could have been. According to TmoNews, that's set to change on April 5th, when T-Mobile plans to push a carrier update to iPhones on the network that will bring official visual voicemail and MMS to such devices as well as enabling LTE access for unlocked iPhone 5 users.
