Otterbox Commuter, Commuter TL for iPhone -- TiPb @ CES 2010

If in previous years you found yourself thinking Otterbox's tank-style Defender was too much armor, and their Impact just not quite tank-like enough, at CES 2010 they showed TiPb a middle-ground that some of you might find just right -- the Commuter series.

In both regular and TL (translucent, a reference to the clear strip across the back) versions, they're aiming it squarely at the urban warrior who wants as much protection as possible while still maintaining a slim, pocketable profile.

Check it out on video, after the break!

  • Why are none of these utube videos working for the iPhone?
  • So, two Otterbox variations that have been on the market since October went completely unnoticed until now? I have had the TL since it came out, and it's a great alternative to the defender.http://www.otterbox.com/press/a-fusion-of-features-otterbox-reveals-comm...
  • YouTube is supposed to convert all videos to H.264 for the iPhone. I even uploaded them last night so YouTube would have plenty of time to get the conversions done.
There's no reason they shouldn't work other than YouTube is super-slow converting right now, or outright failing :(
  • @tb
Their big news was a Palm Pre slider case that was legitimately awesome, but they didn't have the iPhone version of that series ready to show off yet so they demo'd the Commuter for us. Still a great case.
  • I just wish they had a case like this with a belt clip. I don't know why it is so hard to find a decent case that has a belt clip for the gym. Arm bands just don't work for me. The defender is just a bit more protection than I need, but I can't find anyone else that has the port covers like the Commuter and still has a belt clip. HELP ME otterbox!
  • I first read the headline as "Otterbox Computer" and was like, "wow, a computer you can use underwater and stuff." This makes a bit more sense, though. ;-)
  • I have the commuter (3 pack) for when I want extra protection. It's really nice. It does cover everything and is very well made.
  • I was offered the commuter case by otterbox when I purchased my iphone from Telus...everybody I told was like omg ur phone is gonna look like crap bc otterbox stuff is usually huge. When everyone saw my commuter case they loved it. It is hard and soft and protects all ports and is slim. I love this case perfect choice.
