iOS 4.3 beta 2 reveals iPad 2 Camera, PhotoBooth and FaceTime apps

The latest iOS 4.3 beta 2 released to developers yesterday, reveals a Camera app, PhotoBooth app and a FaceTime app will all be included in iPad 2.

The evidence comes from an image found in the latest beta. The image (homeScreenOverlayFaceTime~iPad.png) is used to preview home screen wallpaper changes, and clearly shows icons for the Camera, PhotoBooth and FaceTime apps. The current image found in iOS 4.2 does not have these icons.

Daily Tip: How to switch to a Verizon iPhone without an ETF from AT&T

Considering switching to a Verizon iPhone and wondering how to avoid an AT&T ETF?

Early termination fees are a necessary evil for most carriers. They allow the carrier to recoup some of the cost of a subsidized device if someone cancels early. It also makes the cost of switching to another carrier pretty painful. But there are a few ways to either get around an ETF or offset some of the cost to make the switch a little easier to swallow. Click through for a few suggestions.

Apple testing iOS 4.3 multitouch gestures on iPhone as well?

Apple testing iOS 4.3 multitouch gestures on iPhone as well?

According to some screenshots BGR received from an Apple source, it looks like might just be testing those currently iOS 4.3 for iPad-only multitouch navigation gestures on special internal iPhones as well.

Now the part about 4 or 5 fingers makes sense on iPad but on the much smaller iPhone screen it... seems a little cramped. BGR thinks their previous no-Home-button iPhone rumor could lead to a Palm Pre-style gesture area instead. Engadget, which believes the screenshots could be genuine, thinks iPhone 4 could have a bigger screen or it could just be placeholder text from iPad and less fingers will be required if it goes primetime.

iOS 4.3 features: Ping getting pushy with notifications

The just-released iOS 4.3 beta 2 seems to bring a new set of push notifications to the table -- for Apple's Ping social musical network. So if you've been dying to know what Phil Schiller -- or Chad -- has bought, liked, or commented on in iTunes as instantaneously as possible you'll get your wish just as soon as iOS 4.3 ships.

Uncensored Playboy magazine for iPad will not be in App Store - It's a web app

Yesterday, Hugh Hefner announced that Playboy magazine would be available uncensored on the iPad, but what he failed to mention was that it would be in the form of a web app, not a native application from the App Store.

We are releasing a web-based subscription service with Bondi Digital Publishing that will give users access to every issue of Playboy both past and present. The service will be iPad compatible and will utilize iPad functions.

iOS 4.3 multitasking gestures for iPad won't be enabled for customers

iOS 4.3 multitasking gestures for iPad won't be enabled for customers

It looks like those dreamy new multitasking navigation gestures in iOS 4.3 -- pinch to return home, swipe sideways between apps, swipe up for the fast app switcher dock -- may not be making it into the release version, as the iOS 4.3 beta 2 notes say:

This feature will not be enabled in iOS 4.3 for customers, but we are providing this preview to gather input on how these gestures work with your apps.

Developers are encouraged to evaluate any existing interactions in their applications for potential sources of interference. In order to properly interoperate with multitasking gestures, applications must properly handle the following methods and notifications:

Starbucks Card Mobile now available for iPhone and iPod Touch

Starbucks Card Mobile now available for iPhone and iPod Touch

Starbucks has made their Card Mobile app available for iPhone and iPod touch users, allowing you to scan a barcode on your device andthe same way it currently works for gift cards. The app works in conjunction with your already existing Starbucks cards. I tend to get a lot of Starbucks gift cards for birthdays and holidays, so it's nice to be able to keep them all in one spot.

You can create a Starbucks account within the app and then add all your cards. You can also add any valid credit card as well to refill your Starbucks cards (or use the Paypal feature on iPhone).
