Steve Jobs' New Year's resolutions found on Starbucks napkin [Humor]

Scoopertino, a website that is devoted to fake Apple news, "got their hands on" a very top-secret Apple document - Steve Jobs' New Year's resolutions.

The napkin is standard-issue Starbucks beige. Written in what appears to be a thin Sharpie, black, are ten numbered resolutions. It cannot be determined if they are in ascending or descending order of importance. Three mug stains appear to be random.

UPDATED: What happened to iFixDirect and their white iPhone 4 conversion service?

UPDATED: What happened to iFixDirect and their white iPhone 4 conversion service?

Last month, I had my iPhone 4 converted to white with iFixDirect, and today reader Mark wrote in to let us know the site no longer seemed to be taking orders. So what happened? They're going through a change of management.

As the new owners of iFixDirect, we are very excited to see what the future holds for this company. We have heard all your complaints, in-fact we are the ones who have been trying to resolve all the issues you may have had in the past. Recovery is a slow process but we are working day and night to help you restore your faith in this business and provide you with the quality service that you have been seeking all along.

I've been in correspondence with my contact from iFixDirect, but don't have much details on the change of management other than that one of the original owners of iFixDirect is now the sole owner and running the business on his own. Their website has been updated to reflect the changes and also teases of two new color swaps - red and blue.

We are hoping to receive more details on when the services will become available and will update you when we know more. So if you were waiting on the service, sit tight. In the meantime, anyone excited for a red or blue conversion?

UPDATE: Looks like white conversions will be starting up again very soon, with red and blue to follow on shortly thereafter. Prices should be broadly similar and if you're wondering -- yes, the TiPb 10% promo code will still work (see the link at the top of the post). A couple more pics after the break, and more details to follow!

UPDATE 2: If you are a customer that has not been able to contact iFixDirect, their new email address is support@ifixdirect.com and phone number is 1-800-441-8817. Any email received from ifixdirect@gmail.com is not them and should be disregarded.

Daily Tip: How to add a Gravatar profile pic to your TiPb comments!

Noticed that some TiPb comments have avatars -- pictures of the commenters -- next to the comments? Curious how you can get your own picture up there? TiPb is using the cross-site Gravatar system in our comments and though it does take a few steps to set up, they're simple and painless and we'll show them to you after the break!

Ampkit+ for iPad - app review

Ampkit+ for iPad - app review

YouTube Link

Ampkit is a guitar rig emulation app available for both iPhone and iPad. For this review, I was using the Ampkit+ iPad version and had access to all the extra add-ons and packages. It's worth noting there is a free version of the app as well. Hardware wise, you'll need to pick up the Ampkit LiNK in order to connect your guitar to your iPad or iPhone, available for $39.99. This is similar to the same process as Amplitube 2 and the iRig which I took a look at earlier this month.

Click through for a video demonstrating sound quality, some thoughts, and how I think it stacks up against the competition.

App Store ratings M.I.A.?

App Store ratings M.I.A.?

It appears for some strange reason that the App Store ratings seem to be missing as of this morning. On the featured page all of the ratings are gone and show each app has no ratings. Once you click on the app the rating seems to be back but for some reason on the main page the rating is no where to be found.

Also when I was trying to update a few apps this morning it the download began to hang taking much longer than usual. I also had two Game Center requests which took ages to accept and register on the server. Maybe something strange is going on with Apple servers this morning and hopefully these strange issues go away quickly.

Handbrake updated, adds support for iPhone 4, iPad, and AppleTV 2nd Gen

Handbrake updated, adds support for iPhone 4, iPad, and AppleTV 2nd Gen

Handbrake 0.9.5 adds support for the iPhone 4, iPad, and 2nd generation AppleTV (2010). It's also added support for BluRay as well (note this is only structure support, not decryption). This is great news for a lot of us that want to re-encode our media for use on new AppleTVs and iPhone 4s. Handbrake just got a rather large update that includes several new features that should make Handbrake fans jump for joy. For those of you not familiar, Handbrake is a freeware application that allows you to transcode video. I use Handbrake religiously in order to put my hard copy DVDs in my iTunes library for playback on my iOS devices. This release version is numbered at 0.9.5. They're also only offering support for Intel-based Macs going forward.

Click through for a full list of feature changes from Handbrake's release notes.

iPhone Bugs: Home Button not working?

iPhone Bugs: Home Button not working?

Several of our readers (and one of our editors...) are reporting a bug where the iPhone Home Button does not always respond to single-click or double-clicks. It might be software related as most people seem to have begun noticing this problem after installing iOS 4.1. It was hoped the bug would be fixed in iOS 4.2.1 but no such luck. Other causes that have been considered include a hardware short or dust or lint getting under the button. Ally also mentions that it may be caused by the home button not being properly centred. Possible symptoms and fixes, after the break.
