I don’t think Apple will make an extension for safari on iPhone, they just think that an extension have a lot possibilities of hole for hackers…

@ steve – Yes, Safari 5.0.1 fixes the auto-fill security risk. Not sure if the iOS version of Safari had the same auto-fill problem, but it seems like it didn’t.

does this also fix the security flaw with the auto-fill? making it possible for access to name,address, email, etc.

I created this bookmarklet for my iphone. It sends you to instapaper's mobilized version of the current URL. Install it in desktop Safari and sync over, or create a new bookmark on your iphone, then copy-paste this into the URL field.

javascript:window.location.href='http://www.instapaper.com/m?u='+%20encodeURIComponent(window.location.href)

(In case the comment submission screws it up, there should be no spaces in the above, so you may need to remove a space if one is inserted, e.g. between the ? and the u.)

Enjoy! Bookmarklets cannot do everything a full extension can, but they can do quite a few things.

Yes, I use Chrome on my Mac exclusively, except for those sites that require another browser. (LIke tipb's contact form, which only works/worked on ffx-- what's up with that?)

I think they should get the reader feature on mobile Safari at least, kind of like an Instapaper feature. That would make reading newspapers and articles a lot easier.

Extensions for Mobile Safari? If it happens, the only ones allowed will be moderated like the app store. I would wager that extensions not in the gallery will not be allowed…

Mobile Safari Extensions would be cool but would need some work. The iPhone at least doesn’t have much toolbar real-estate.
