Apple releases iOS 4.2.1 (4.3.1) bug fix update for Apple TV

Apple releases iOS 4.2.1 for Apple TV

Apple TV owners, Apple has just released an iOS 4.2.1 (4.3.1) update just for you. So turn on your television, click on over to Software Update, and start your download. It's a bug fix update as far as we can tell, mostly geared towards fixing the screen flicker and color issues some users have been complaining about.

If you have an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad there's nothing for you (yet) so it's interesting to see

(And once again we'll ask Apple to end the insanity of having a 4.2.1 software that's version number 4.3.1 and just settle on the same number as the rest of the iOS family -- pretty please?)

If you notice anything else new or changed, let us know in comments!

[Thanks Anthony!]

Apple releases iOS 4.2.1 (4.3.1) bug fix update for Apple TV

Why do you keep referring to 4.3.1? They released 4.2 for the apple tv and now they released 4.2.1, for some bug fixes. Why does this make it 4.3.1? You guys need your heads checked...

If you go to the about screen in settings an click the menu button it will show the alternate version number of 4.3.1.

Just installed it, but it didn't fix youtube search problem(when you try to search for any content with non english letters it gets an error)

Two iPhone 3GS's (16GB) in house, both freezing, apps closing and scrolling 'stutters' & sticks since upgrade to IOS 4.3.0 last week - one wouldn't even shut down today. Very disappointed, hope IOS 4.3.1 corrects problems.

Does anyone know what happened to the native Mac non- iTunes to Apple TV feature touted when AirPlay was first introduced? I figured that feature would be refined and pushed out in a Mac and/or Apple TV update by now.

It fixes flickering issues for 480p users. For color correction try settings/audio and video/hdmi mode - setting this to 'RGB High' fixed my pink screen when using a monoprice hdmi switcher.

Update bricked my Apple TV. Just displays the Apple logo with a pink line above it and a pink box in the corner of the screen...

I finally got mine working again and when I try to access Netflix, it freezes an shuts down my Apple TV. Weird. Apple broke it. I got mine working by doing the restore in iTunes so I don't know what the best option is.

Having the same problem with Netflix. Kinda too lazy to restore it via I think I'll just use the crappy built in Netflix on my Bravia.

I did another restore via iTunes. It still doesn't work. Don't waste your time with the restores and resets. Apple is going to have to fix this.

12 years of Mac only and I must be the only frickin' person in the world that's never had an issue with a Mac update on ANY of my products. Am I just lucky or do other people just make up all of these "issues" that they have with updates?

After reading numerous reviews of treadmills, and after cheking out a number of them at retail stores in person, I chose the Pardigm Treadmill. The best price of ANY place was Amazon. I realize I just happen to live close to a point which made shipping unbelievably fast, but even if it took more than several days it would have been alright and it would have been worth the wait.

I am glad I found your site. This is the beginning of my Internet Life. I have reitred from the grind. There is quite a rich diversity of information in blogs so I am getting involved and commenting. I think I really appreciate the basics of what you have here in this blog. I have started my own blog and website. My email and site are included with this post.
