Regarding an Apple TV App Store

You'll hear a lot more discussion of this at the tail end of tonights iPhone & iPad Live podcast with Seth Clifford of Nickelfish and David Barnard of App Cubby, but as rumors are spreading that WWDC 2012 might bring with it an "App Store" for Apple TV, I wanted to get something up on the site about it as well.

Apple rumored to show off iTV operating system at WWDC

We've been hearing an awful lot about Apple making their own TV set lately, and we may get a glance at the operating system that will be powering it next week at the Worldwide Developer Conference. Details are scarce, but apparently the iTV OS will include a control out API for accessory manufacturers and other third parties, which could quickly turn an Apple-made television into the connected hub for your home.

Apple sold nearly 3 million Apple TVs in 2011, already sold nearly 3 million Apple TVs in first half of 2012, won't comment on Apple television

As part of his talk at the D10 Conference today, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that while they'd sold nearly 3 million Apple TVs in 2011, they'd already sold 3 million in the first half of 2012 alone. That's double the rate of sales for last year so far, and we're not even in the traditionally strongest holiday quarter yet.

Rogers, BCE reportedly in talks with Apple Inc. to become Canadian launch partners for Apple iTV

The rumors surrounding an Apple's iTV television don't seem to be slowing down, and now a report has come out suggesting that two of Canada's top telecommunications companies, Rogers and Bell, are in talks to provide content for the still-unannounced, unreleased device.
