Apple releases iOS 6.1.2 for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, fixes Exchange calendar bug

Apple has just released iOS 6.1.2, their second minor point update, and as promised it fixes a bug that's caused network activity problems for Exchange calendar users.

iOS 6.1 was released on January 28 with Siri movie ticket purchases in the U.S., and increased LTE support internationally. iOS 6.1.1 was released on February 11, but was exclusive to the iPhone 4S, and fixed 3G network connectivity problems.

A separate iOS 6.1.1 beta was released to developers on February 6, mostly focused on Maps improvements for Japan. That update is still awaiting release will likely be re-numbered.

No word yet one whether iOS 6.1.2 fixes the other, highly-publicized iOS bug -- a passcode bypass Apple previously said would be addressed in a future update. Stay tuned.

If you've been experiencing the Exchange calendar issue, let me know how the update works for you.

I think this addresses the passlock bug as well.

I assume that since I followed your post:

This doesn't affect me.

No word on what, if anything, this does to the evasi0n jailbreak.

gregg37 says:

It just sits on "Checking for Update" forever, which I guess is a good thing.

Exchange has worked fine and still works fine.

RickNY says:

No it hasn't - at least behind the scenes.. Read the link in the article above to learn about the Exchange issue as well as the instance where it causes a specific issue.

I performed an OTA update from 6.1 on my VZW iPhone 5 and after updating successfully I have yet to have it find any network connectivity in an area that had full bars and LTE an hour before updating. I reset my Network Connection with no luck and am now doing a full restore. I hope this is isolated to me because this is a huge pain.

guitarman85 says:

I had the same problem on my 32G VZW iphone5. First reboot after the update came up with no network connectivity other than wifi and I had previously had full LTE there. I just did a hard reset and it came up fine after that.

Edit: I was coming from 6.1.1, if it makes any difference.

I don't really know what the exchange calendar issue is anyway, However I updated my iPad 3 regardless. But for some reason I can't seem to upgrade my iPod touch 5. It seems to download the update in 2 to 3 minutes, But it only gets so far in the preparing for installation when it comes up with an error saying that it could not update. Anybody have any ideas?

Nicholas Daskievige says:

Doing it over the air is not working try the old way plug your iPod into iTunes and update from iTunes then when it's done wait untill you see the Apple logo with the loading bar then after that's done. You will have to set it up again but the wifi that you set up with will be on there.

Goodeye says:

I can't download this over Cellular, it's a 12.8MB file for me. Yet I can go on the App store and download 20MB+ app.

Something is seriously wrong with that picture.

Thanks ATT for your backwards thinking! I say this because a friend with an iPhone 5 on Verizon was able to download it over cellular no problem.

what the heck is an exchange calendar bug? I love how apple doesn't even explain what this is

Here is an article

If you have an exchange account from work, they will block your account until you get the update. At least that is what my work did.

I updated my iPhone 5 to 6.1.2 software and it is affecting my network signal strength. Initially the update was smooth for a few days until it started having problems deciding to connect to the network. After pushing the 6.1.2 software update on my Sprint iPhone 5 my LTE signal is weak where it was once was very strong. It toggles between 3G and no service repeatedly. Before this update my iPhone 5 was performing exceptionally well! Apple needs to investigate this issue and push out a network fix immediately! Thank You
