AT&T Clearing Inventory? 16GB iPhone 3G Refurbs Online for $149.99

I will be honest here and say I've never been a fan of any refurbished products and AT&T is not making refurbished iPhone 3G's any more enticing. It seems that AT&T has once again gotten some stock of refurbished 16GB iPhone 3G's and are dumping them for the price of $149.99.

iPhone App to "Bring the Rain" for US Military's Networked Warfare?

Newsweek is reporting that the iPod touch (and presumably the iPhone, as they run the same software) is replacing more expensive, government-contracted handhelds as the "networked warefare" mobile device of choice for the US Military. Not only do soldiers often already know how to use iPods and iPhones:

iPhone HD Rumblings Now on Cable? Replacing Apple TV?!

iPhone HD Rumblings Now on Cable? Replacing Apple TV?!

TiPb predicted an iPhone HD way back on October 10, and while not everyone -- even here -- agrees that we'll see it, rumors continue to point that maybe, just maybe we will.

The latest comes via PhoneNews which reports that the Apple AV Cables, component and composite versions of which were launched last year alongside the iPhone 3G, are being cleared to make room for a consolidated cable. What's more, this new cables, alongside an "iPhone HD" would support 720p or 1080i out (for your TV, not on the device itself).

App Review: Convertbot Unit Converter for iPhone

App Review: Convertbot Unit Converter for iPhone

Convertbot Forum Review by msbaylor. (Visit the thread for video and more pics. For more Forum Reviews, see the TiPb iPhone App Store Forum!)

ConvertBot is by Tapbots - the developers of WeightBot and for those of you that love the way the application operates, this one will not let you down.

This is probably the sleekest conversion application I have seen with its cool animations and sounds. However, the only issues I ran into – it takes longer than I thought the program should take to load. At first I believed that it was the app itself checking an Internet connection to update the currency conversions, but when I put my iPhone in Airplane mode, it took just as long. But it is a good thing to note that even though the currencies could not update, the program is still usable.

App Review: MLB At Bat 2009 for iPhone

(MLB At Bat 2009 Forum Review by cjvitek For more Forum Reviews, see the TiPb iPhone App Store Forum Review Index!)

Okay, I admit it, I am a die hard baseball fan. One of the first apps I bought last year was MLB At Bat, and when I heard it was coming out again, after a brief period of annoyance, I decided to purchase it again.

On a side note, I expect to see many more subscription based or "partial" purchase based apps with the new pricing methods in the app store. I don't think it bodes well.

But anyway, I decided to get the app when I saw that this year it included the MLB Audio - radio broadcasts of the games. As a bonus, you get to choose the stream to listen to!

So how does it stack up?

Infamous Safari Security Cracker Finds Vulnerability-ish in iPhone OS?

Infamous Safari Security Cracker Finds Vulnerability-ish in iPhone OS?

Very little code is bullet-proof. Hackers will always find holes. The worst holes will be critical. The worst hacks will be zero-day and found in the wild -- catching companies and users both by surprise.

Not sure we have any of that here. Macworld does report that, at the Black Hat Europe Security Conference, former NSA number cruncher Charlie Miller -- who has rolled his ability to find exploits in the Mac version of Apple's Safari Browser into tens of thousands of dollars and a couple free MacBooks at the annual Pwn2Own contest -- claims to have:

iPhone Hulu App: The Next SlingGate?

iPhone Hulu App: The Next SlingGate?

Rumor is that Hulu is working on a application that will be available in the App Store sometime in the near future. Silicon Alley Insider has learned about it from a "plugged-in industry executive" and it is said that the application itself will be as slick as Hulu's website and it will work on 3G as well as WiFi. Judging from the popularity of Hulu and their really cool commercials, this app could be a huge hit.

iPhone 3.0 Beta 3: Mobile Me Merge, Publish, and Share

iPhone 3.0 Beta 3: Mobile Me Merge, Publish, and Share

We've now gotten a few reports and some screenshots of yet more new functionality in iPhone 3.0 Beta 3.

First is "merge". If you already have bookmarks, contacts, or other data on your iPhone (for example, if you synced it over via iTunes) and you enable MobileMe, a menu will slide up asking if you want to merge the data, not merge (i.e. replace), or cancel.

Next are "Publishing to MobileMe", which shows a direct upload status bar, and new options to view published items on MobileMe, or "tell a friend" (via MMS?).

Reminder: Apple's All About Profit Share NOT Market Share

Reminder: Apple's All About Profit Share NOT Market Share

Quarterly results time, when the internet's fancy turns to chicken-little predictions of how many percentage points this or that company slipped on which or what index of... who cares.

It's not the first time we've mentioned this, and we're certainly not the first people to have mentioned it. Yet, just like clockwork every 3 months analysts spout estimates and every blog and their commenters race to re-publish what in essence are meaningless numbers.
