Thursday Fun Video Part Deux: iPod Theater Edition

So. Funny. Maybe the Audio Book industry was right to be worried, but for the wrong reason. With the iPhone rumored to be getting voice control in 3.0, how long will it be before we get to see our signature device turn up as Sam Jackson in Pulp Fiction... or doing it's own into at Macworld 2007! The comedy potential is limitless, we tell you, limitless.

Quick App: GriP -- Growl Notification for iPhone Jailbreak

We've expressed concern before that, with the arrival of Push Notification, the iPhone's built in alert system, especially the modal text boxes, may not be a user-friendly solution. There have been a couple creative solutions to this problem already on the Jailbreak side, but GriP takes a rather novel approach: it aims to be Growl (the well known Mac OS X global notification system - Wikipedia link) for iPhone -- hence the name.

  • It's new UI makes the app much slicker - specifically the integrated IM functionality
  • Oh, and the call quality has been "radically improved"

Other highlights include:

Apple Getting Another AMD/ATI Graphics Guru in Raja Koduri?

Something seriously smoking be going on round Apple way if the latest story from The Inquirer (via MacRumors) is to be believed:

We've just heard from sources deep inside 1 Infinite Loop in Cupertino, California that [Raja Koduri, AMD/ATI Chief Technology Officer, Graphics Product Group] is heading there.

So for those keeping score at home, this adds to:

iPhone 3.0: On-Device App Download from Multiple iTunes Accounts?

We mentioned the new Store Setting tab just a short time ago. daveizzle on Twitter made the observation that this functionality makes it seem like you could theoretically sign into one account, download apps, sign out, sign into another account, and download apps from that account as well, all onto the same iPhone or iPod touch. Boom. Support for multiple iTunes accounts right on the device.

iPhone 3.0 Beta 4 Notes Sync... Requires Mac OS X 10.5.7...?

iPhone 3.0 Beta 4 Notes Sync... Requires Mac OS X 10.5.7...?

iPhone 3.0 Beta 4 required iTunes 8.2 Pre-Release to install, and it looks like iTunes 8.2 Pre-Release requires... Mac OS Leopard 10.5.7 in order to sync notes now. Which, of course, is not yet available.

Previous iPhone 3.0 Betas have synced perfectly well under the current Mac OS release, 10.5.6.

A sign of 10.5.7's immanent arrival? Perhaps. A more interesting question is what's changed in note sync to require it where previous betas did not?

Updated: Some Registered Developers Reporting "Pink Screen of Death" When Installing iPhone 3.0 Beta 4?

Updated: Some Registered Developers Reporting "Pink Screen of Death" When Installing iPhone 3.0 Beta 4?

UPDATE 2: Andrew points out in the comments that this may be the result of devs using Xcode to install Beta 4 rather than iTunes 8.2, which is required. We have no way of testing this, but if you are having trouble, and using Xcode, try switching to iTunes 8.2 and installing that way.

UPDATE: Devs responding to @theiphoneblog via Twitter are reporting that, for them at least, the PSOD is temporary and/or goes away after a reboot. Let us know how it's working for you.
