iPhone 3.0: On-Device App Download from Multiple iTunes Accounts?

iPhone 3.0: On-Device App Download from Multiple iTunes Accounts?

We mentioned the new Store Setting tab just a short time ago. daveizzle on Twitter made the observation that this functionality makes it seem like you could theoretically sign into one account, download apps, sign out, sign into another account, and download apps from that account as well, all onto the same iPhone or iPod touch. Boom. Support for multiple iTunes accounts right on the device.

iPhone 3.0 Beta 4 Notes Sync... Requires Mac OS X 10.5.7...?

iPhone 3.0 Beta 4 Notes Sync... Requires Mac OS X 10.5.7...?

iPhone 3.0 Beta 4 required iTunes 8.2 Pre-Release to install, and it looks like iTunes 8.2 Pre-Release requires... Mac OS Leopard 10.5.7 in order to sync notes now. Which, of course, is not yet available.

Previous iPhone 3.0 Betas have synced perfectly well under the current Mac OS release, 10.5.6.

A sign of 10.5.7's immanent arrival? Perhaps. A more interesting question is what's changed in note sync to require it where previous betas did not?

Updated: Some Registered Developers Reporting "Pink Screen of Death" When Installing iPhone 3.0 Beta 4?

Updated: Some Registered Developers Reporting "Pink Screen of Death" When Installing iPhone 3.0 Beta 4?

UPDATE 2: Andrew points out in the comments that this may be the result of devs using Xcode to install Beta 4 rather than iTunes 8.2, which is required. We have no way of testing this, but if you are having trouble, and using Xcode, try switching to iTunes 8.2 and installing that way.

UPDATE: Devs responding to @theiphoneblog via Twitter are reporting that, for them at least, the PSOD is temporary and/or goes away after a reboot. Let us know how it's working for you.

Rumor: iTunes 8.2 Pre-Release Contains Obscure Reference to Blu-Ray?

Rumor: iTunes 8.2 Pre-Release Contains Obscure Reference to Blu-Ray?

MacRumors, via a user in their forums, is reporting that iTunes 8.2 could have some Blu-Ray functionality? Check out their post for details.

Steve Jobs famously called Blu-Ray licensing a "bag of hurt" when asked about it previously, but there's been some chatter to suggest licensing has been somewhat de-hurt-bagged recently. Still, Apple hasn't announced any first-party Blu-Ray hardware, so we're not sure what to make of this at the moment.

In any event, unless they start including iPhone-friendly "digital copies" for transfer directly from the BD disks, it won't change things for our mobile devices anyway.

QuickApps: SplashPhoto and SplashNotes Round-out SplashData iPhone Offerings

SplashData let us know that, with the release of SplashPhoto and SplashNotes, they've finished porting their well-known suite of mobile applications to the iPhone:

SplashPhoto features easy sync with the desktop companion, and integration with Flickr and Picasa for photo sharing. SplashNotes sync with the desktop is even better because it's easy to take notes on a laptop and then take them with you on your iPhone -- or vice versa.

Attack of the iClones: Verizon not Getting iPhone, just Microsoft "Pink"?!

"Pink" iPhone Killers, from the folks who brought you "Blue Screens" and "Brown Zunes". Mmm, taste that rainbow... Sigh. Maybe Pink is the XBoxPhone we've always dreamed of. Maybe it really is just a candy-coated Diamond 2 with pop-tart trademarks. Dunno. Nobody does. Giant mystery in puzzle pastry with enigma frosting. Until we know for sure, however, there's no danger in speculating, is there?

MobileMe Hackery: Salma Hayek Edition

MobileMe Hackery: Salma Hayek Edition

Lately all has been quiet in regards to Apple's MobileMe service and shady activities. In the past we've told you about a few separate cases of phishing scams going around. Well today we've heard that Oscar nominated actress, Salma Hayek's account has been hacked.

Honestly, this is something that is really not that difficult to do, especially depending on how much information you have about a person. Sarah Palin's Yahoo! account was famously hacked last year using information from Wikipedia, as have several other celebrities.
