Angela Ahrendts joining Apple next week

We've known for a very long time that Angela Ahrednts would be joining Apple in 2014. She's been the CEO of Burberry since 2006, but is joining Apple as SVP of Retail. Apple announces Q2 2014 earnings: 43.7 million iPhones, 16.3 million iPads, 4.1 million Macs sold

Apple today announced their Q2 2014 financial results and highlights include 43.7 million iPhones, 16.3 million iPads, 4.1 million Macs sold. Quarterly revenue was $45.6 billion and quarterly net profit was $10.2 billion. It's not the holiday quarter, which is Apple's typical powerhouse, and it's roughly half a year since the last big product announcements, so there's been nothing to jumpstart numbers.

How to save disk space on your Mac by selectively syncing Dropbox folders

Like many of you, I rely on Dropbox to share files with friends, family and coworkers. When it comes to my coworkers, we have a lot of files we share, and some of them are quite sizable photos and graphics files. I use a MacBook Pro with flash storage, so space is at a premium. While having access to those shared files is helpful, I don't need all of them taking up valuable storage space locally on my Mac.

Fortunately Dropbox has considered this. There's a Selective Sync feature that enables you to specify which folders will be copied locally to your Mac. If you need access to them, you can just pull up a web browser and grab them from there instead.

How can Apple excite investors beyond Q2 FY14's boring quarterly report?

Today after the market closes AAPL will report Q2 fiscal 2014 results. Expectations are for a boring (read: very profitable, but no growth) quarter. Analysts forecast $43.5 billion in revenue and $10.18 in earnings per share (EPS), which is pretty much a repeat of last year's numbers. Unless Apple surprises us with something, the focus isn't going to be on the results, or even the guidance for next quarter. Apple investors want to know what's coming next. We all want to know — what will Apple do to become a growth company again?

How to move Pages, Numbers, or Keynote for iPhone and iPad files to Dropbox, Google Drive, Evernote, and more

Pages, Numbers, and Keynote are all part of Apple's iWork suite, and some of the best ways to manage documents, edit spreadsheets, and create presentations on an iPhone or iPad. When you make Pages, Numbers, or Keynote files, however, you're not locked into Apple's iCloud online storage. You can move anything you create to any other storage app that supports the basic file types. That includes Dropbox, Google Drive, Evernote, and more!
