For iPhone Lens for iPhone 4S and iPhone 4

The For iPhone Lens for the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 4 comes with a tripod, a holder, a case, and large zoom lens that can take your photos all up close and personal.

Assembly is easy and the results are good. It's not priced in the thousands like Nikon or Canon lenses, so set your expectations according, but it does exactly what it claims -- adds an 8x optical zoom to your iPhone photography.

I tried it out on both an iPhone 4 and and iPhone 4S. Both take good photos and the iPhone 4S takes great photos for a phone, but the built in digital zoom is... really not great. So, my primary concern here was for something affordable that handled optical zoom but otherwise got out of the way and let the iPhone camera do the heavy lifting. And that's what I got.

If you don't want to lug around a DSLR or even a pocket camera, but still want something to help you take pictures of your kids soccer game, your favorite band in concert, your special someone accepting an award, wild life on your nature walk, or anything else you need to get a closer look at but just can't get closer to, the For iPhone Lens is definitely something to consider.

For iPhone Lens for iPhone 4S and iPhone 4

I wish I could get one of thoses. They are great. I saw the video and already retweeted because I think thats one of the best gift for the iPhone 4 and 4S.

To bad you have to spin it so much to zoom. It would have been a lot more functional if you could actively slide it in and out during use.

you dont have to spin it to zoom, in fact i dont think you can zoom it, its just a focus ring, the spinning is just to screw it onto the case.

This has got to be the stupidest thing I have ever seen. The lens is huge in comparison to the iphone. if you really need optical zoom and other advance functions, carry a point-to-shoot (it would the same space in your pocket as having to lug around the For Iphone lens).

Btw, I'm an iphone user. I like most of the accessories that come out for iphones but this lens seems a bit ridiculous to me. Think about the time you would waste having to screw on/screw off the lens to the case each time you need the 8x zoom. The point-to-shoots are so small nowadays that it would make sense to carry it if you need to take a lot of pictures at events.

On the negative side, the chromatic aberration from the lens is severe with wild cyan blue edging in one corner and crazy magenta edging objects in the other corner...not to mention horribly soft focus. The image quality is terrible (abeit not pixelated like the digital zoom).
On the positive side, I must get one for myself for XMas...too cool!

Unfortunately the lens I bought (exactly as pictured) is NOT 8x as advertised, but only 5x. I checked this carefully through calibration and comparison with another monocular I have which is specified as 5x; the image size is identical. If you are going to buy one of these lenses, make sure you get a post-back guarantee from your supplier that the lens is 8x as advertised. On the plus side, the 5x is still useful, and provides a fair quality image. I found some image distortion towards the edges, but no colour flare.
