Supposed iPad 3 parts assembled on video, unsurprisingly looks like iPad 2

A set of the supposed iPad 3 parts, like the ones that have been floating around for weeks, have again been put them together, and again offered them up for the internet's collective viewing pleasure. This time it's M.I.C Gadgets doing the inverse-teardown (build-up?) and... there's nothing much surprising. It looks like an iPad 2 that's the tiniest bit thicker and has a more pronounce tapering around the edges. They do, however, think 4G LTE is unlikely at this point.

How to use negative space to take more powerful photos with your iPhone

The placement of your subject or subjects is incredibly important when it comes to creating powerful iPhone photo compositions, but just as important is everything around and between them — the negative space. We started out our iPhoneography series by introducing the rule of thirds. Now we're going to explore that other two thirds, how it defines the forms, leads the eye, and helps create more balanced, more visually interesting work.

The challenges of bringing Siri to the iPad

The challenges of bringing Siri to the iPad

Siri on the iPad would need to address connectivity, user interface scaling, and some long missing apps

I would love to have Siri, Apple's voice-controlled virtual assistant, on the iPad 3. I wrote in my iPad 3 event preview preview that I anticipate it, and not a day goes by that I don't instinctively reach for the Dictation button on the iPad 2 keyboard and then grumble when I realize for the umpteenth time that it's just not there.

But as much as I love the idea of Siri on the iPad, there are some challenges Apple would need to overcome.

Apple reaches 25 billion iPhone and iPad app downloads

The countdown is over. The 25 billionth app has been download from the App Store and one lucky person (hopefully an iMore reader!) has won a $10,000 iTunes gift card. This milestone has been reached just shy of 4 years after the App Store's launch on June 10, 2008. Not bad!

No word on who the winner is yet -- if it's you, what do you plan to spend all that iTunes cash on?

We've also asked you what you, our readers, expect from both the hardware and the software as well. Okay. Fine. Done. Good for us. Now it's time to have some fun. Now it's time to forget practical, forget realistic, and go full out, balls-to-wall, sky's-the-limit gadget porn.

iPad 3 prices, storage capacities rumored to be identical to iPad 2

No huge surprises here, but it sounds like iPad 3 prices and storage capacities will be identical to iPad 2, which were identical to the original iPad. 9to5Macs Mark Gurman has the details:

We’ve gotten word that iPad pricing is going to be the same across the board as the current iPad 2 models which should be no big surprise given Apple’s history – they rarely raise prices. Even better, some countries with currencies doing better than the US dollar should expect to see marginal drops in prices.

Apple admits to using Corning glass for iPhone

Apple's just-posted job creation page actually says the iPhone uses Corning glass. It's been one of the worst kept secrets in mobile technology, with Apple never admitting to using it and Corning would never admitting to Apple using it. (We've asked them every year at CES and gotten nothing but nervous smiles and subject changes in return.) Former Apple employees have mentioned it, but there's been no official confirmation of it. Until now.

Corning employees in Kentucky and New York who create the majority of the glass for iPhone

Would a 2048x1536 iPad 3 qualify as a Retina display?

Would a 2048x1536 iPad 3 qualify as a Retina display?

Even if the iPad 3 does indeed come with a 9.7-inch, 2048x1536 screen, would that still qualify as a "Retina display"? Does Retina display even have official qualifications? Ever since Apple adopted Retina display as the name for the iPhone 4's high pixel density screen, there's been some confusion as to both of those things. At 330dpi, the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S seems obvious. At 264dpi, a theoretical iPad 3 not so much.

How my iPad helped me learn to play guitar

How my iPad helped me learn to play guitar

When I decided that I wanted to learn how to play the guitar, I wasn’t sure where to start –- so I turned, as I always do, to my trusty iPad.

I’m not the most spontaneous person in the world – my wife and kids would say that is a huge understatement. I am a bit programmed and disciplined and really work on “trying new things.”

So, in my disciplined way, I decided that at 48 years of age, it was time for a mid-life crisis. Since I’m not terribly spontaneous, I have an amazing, beautiful wife and six great kids, my mid-life crisis needed to be something out of the norm.
